After the humiliating surrender of Detroit and the British threat to the Northwestern Frontier, the US government is persuaded by sailing master and trader Daniel Dobbins to build a fleet on Lake Erie. Formerly demoted 27-year old Lieutenant Oliver Perry is ordered from Newport on a dangerous journey to the wilderness of the Great Lakes to construct ships capable of facing the invincible might of the British Royal Navy.

Perry’s trusted friend ‘Old Cyrus’ Tiffany joins the crew and Emily Bridgenorth volunteers as a man.

Meanwhile, loyal British naval officer, 26-year old Robert Barclay arrives in Canada and is given orders to prevent the threat of the United States breaking the British coastal blockades. But to do so he must also learn to work with local Canadians, ex-slaves and Indian allies.

As Spring breaks, Shawnee leader Tecumseh returns to pursue his dream of a tribal alliance and a unified Indian nation.

Bonded with the British and Canadians to prevent the western expansion of the United States, the Lake Erie battle will determine his fate.
