Currently, I am pursuing two bachelor's degrees, one in Forensic and Investigative Science and another degree in Anthropology. After I graduate from IU Indy, I am planning on participating in a graduate program elsewhere in the country (or potentially out side of the United States). While I currently am not sure what I will be studying for my master's degree, I would like it to be a topic that would further emphasize and support my career goal of becoming a forensic anthropologist.
Currently, my dream career is to be a forensic anthropologist that would be qualified to work both in a lab and field setting in order to complete my research. While I don't have a specific company or organization I am planning on working with just yet, I would probably work with either a university or a federal organization.
[Description]
A brief reflection on my personal and academic goals and how I would like to better myself in the future.
[I Want to Become Statement]
When it comes to the future, I have quite a few goals, but they all seem to revolve around one thing in particular - financial stability. While my family isn’t exactly poor, we certainly don’t come from wealth and because of this, my goals for the future tend to all lead back to money. I want to be able to live comfortably without having to worry about the cost of living all the time. While this grand goal may be unrealistic due to its partial reliance on how well the economy holds up in the next couple of years, I believe that the smaller goals leading up to it may be more attainable. Currently, I am striving to go to some sort of graduate school after finishing my time at IUPUI (most likely it’ll be a master’s degree or something similar). With the combination of a higher level degree and experiences that I would like to accumulate throughout my time at university, I should be able to acquire a career with a steady income that will help accomplish my overall goal of financial stability.
Like all living things, I will grow and change as time goes on. I know that I’m not getting any taller so in the upcoming years, I want to grow mentally and emotionally. While both of these things will happen naturally as I gain more life experiences, I think there are plenty of ways to help guide my personal growth. In terms of growth, I want to become more comfortable with myself and more sure of myself too. While my current way of doing things is comfortable, I want to challenge myself to become better.
As I age and change in the future years, I hope that I don’t neglect the values that I currently hold dear to my heart. I was raised to treat others with kindness but to also stand up for myself and others who are suffering. In the future, I hope that I gain more confidence as I grow more comfortable in my own skin and that I’m able to channel that confidence to aid others. As of right now, I’m a hardworking person who values my family a lot - traits that I want to keep in the future.
[Reflection]
Through this reflection, I was able to address my personal goals for the future. Specifically, I thought a lot about what my next steps would be after IUPUI and how I might grow as a person leading up to that point.
