Thanks for using Amblyo. Here's how to get help.
Email: ksbpstech@gmail.com We reply within a few working days.
When you write in, it helps to include your device model, your iOS version, and what you were doing when the problem happened.
Amblyo is a training app. It is not a medical device and it is not a medical treatment. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified eye care professional.
Please see an optometrist or ophthalmologist for a proper eye examination. If you have been prescribed glasses or contact lenses, wear them. If you have been given a plan — including patching — follow it. Use Amblyo alongside that plan, not instead of it.
Do not cover or patch a child's eye without professional guidance.
Stop and rest if your eyes feel tired, sore or strained, or if you get a headache. Eye strain is a signal to stop, not a sign of progress.
Amblyo is not suitable for you if you have macular degeneration, glaucoma or other retinal or optic nerve disease; have had eye surgery in the last three months; have new or worsening double vision; have had sudden or recent vision loss; or have photosensitive epilepsy.
What do I need? An iPhone or iPad running iOS 17 or later. For the binocular exercises you also need red-cyan anaglyph glasses — the cardboard kind sold as "3D movie glasses", usually a few dollars for a pack. The 14 monocular exercises need no accessory at all.
Where do I buy red-cyan glasses? Any online retailer. Search for "red cyan anaglyph glasses" or "3D movie glasses". Get the plain cardboard ones. Buy a pack — children lose them, and the filters vary slightly between brands, so a spare is useful.
Why does the app ask how far I sit from the screen? Because the size of an exercise on screen only means something if we know how large it looks to your eye. A shape that is one degree wide at 50 cm is a different number of pixels than the same shape at 30 cm. Getting this right is what makes your scores comparable week to week. Try to sit at roughly the same distance each time.
Which eye should I select? The one your eye doctor identified as weaker. If you are not sure, ask them — please don't guess. Selecting the wrong eye means the exercises train the wrong side.
Do I need a dark room? No. Use Amblyo in a normally lit room. A bright screen in a dark room causes glare and discomfort with no benefit.
How much should I do? Regular short sessions work better than occasional long ones. The app suggests a daily plan and caps children at 20 minutes a day. More is not better.
Why does it stop me after 20 minutes? Because sustained near work causes eye strain, and because there is no reason to think longer sessions help. Adults can practise up to 30 minutes.
My eyes feel tired. Should I push through? No. Tap the tired-eyes button in the top corner and stop. Rest, look at something far away, and come back later or tomorrow. Fatigue is not a sign that it is working.
How do I turn the sound off? A short tone confirms each answer, and that is on to start with. Background music and the spoken guide are off unless you switch them on.
Three ways to silence it: your phone's silent switch works on this app like it does on any other, there is a mute button in the top corner of every exercise, and each sound type has its own switch in Profile → Settings → Sound.
Why does the app make a sound when I answer? So you know the tap registered. It is deliberately quiet, and the tone for a wrong answer is softer and lower than the one for a right answer rather than a buzz — the difficulty is set so that roughly one answer in five is wrong, and being buzzed at for that would be punishing you for the exercise working.
What do the A, B and C badges mean? They show what kind of research supports that type of exercise. Tap any badge for a plain-English explanation. Full detail is on our Evidence and Methods page.
What do my scores mean? They are training scores, not clinical measurements. They are useful for watching your own practice change over weeks. They cannot tell you your visual acuity and they cannot replace an eye examination.
The app says there's no clear change. Is it broken? No — it is being honest. Amblyo only reports improvement when the data actually supports it. Flat weeks are normal. If nothing changes over eight weeks, the app will suggest you speak to an eye care professional, because at that point that is the useful next step.
I'm colour-blind and the binocular exercises don't work. Red-cyan glasses rely on distinguishing red from cyan, so this is expected. The app detects it during calibration and switches you to the monocular track, which has 14 exercises and needs no glasses.
Will this straighten a crossed eye? No. Amblyopia (lazy eye) and strabismus (a turned or crossed eye) are different things, though they often occur together. Amblyo trains how the brain uses the weaker eye. It does not change eye alignment. Alignment needs an eye care professional.
What does Amblyo Pro cost?
Yearly — $29.99 per year, after a 7-day free trial
Monthly — $9.99 per month
Weekly — $2.99 per week
Prices are in US dollars and may differ in your region.
Is anything free? Yes. Four exercises, calibration, all safety features and the Learn section are free forever, with no ads and no account.
How do I cancel? Open Settings on your device → tap your name → Subscriptions → Amblyo → Cancel Subscription. At least 24 hours before your period ends. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.
How do I get a refund? Refunds are handled by Apple. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the Apple Account you used.
I paid but the app still says Free. Open Amblyo → Profile → Subscription → Restore Purchases. If that does not work, make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account you purchased with, then email us.
Can my family share one subscription? Yes. Amblyo Pro supports Family Sharing.
What data do you collect? None. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics and no advertising. Amblyo makes no network requests except to Apple's App Store for purchases. Everything stays on your device. See our Privacy Policy.
How do I export or delete my data? Profile → Settings → Data. You can export everything or delete it permanently. Deleting the app also removes all of its data.
Can I show my progress to my eye doctor? Yes — export your history from the Progress screen and bring it to your appointment.
The binocular exercises look ghosted. Run the anaglyph calibration again (Profile → Calibration). Different brands of glasses have slightly different filters. If ghosting persists, try a different pair — cheap filters vary a lot.
Exercises pause when I switch windows. That is intentional. An exercise running in a background window produces unreliable timing, and unreliable timing produces meaningless scores.
The app doesn't write a plain-language summary on my device. The written coach summary uses Apple's on-device intelligence, which needs an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, or an iPad with an M1 chip or newer. On other devices you get the same information in a simpler format. No exercise, measurement or paid feature is affected — only the wording of the weekly note.
