Amazon Rainforest

Have you ever heard of the Amazon Rainforest? It’s a unique place located in the countries of Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana. The Amazon Rainforest is the largest rainforest in the world. It covers 2% of the earth, which is equal to about 2.124 million square miles. It’s humid with a yearly rainfall of 80 to 400 inches and an average temperature of 70 to 85OF.

Plants and animals

The Amazon Rainforest contains a wide diversity of plants and animals. Some animals include jaguars, tigers, caimans, poison dart frogs, and otters. Many of the plants are unique. They have a variety of heights, ranging from the smallest plants to the largest plant with an astonishing height of over 300 feet. The rainforest has 4 levels, the emergent layer, canopy, understory, and forest floor. The emergent layer is the tallest layer with the tallest trees which get the most sunlight. The forest floor is floor layer, it’s dark with only a sliver of sunlight. It’s covered with small shrubs and insects.
