Amanda Yến Nguyen, 58, of Cerritos, California, passed away peacefully on September 07, 2023 (ngày 23 tháng 7 năm Quý Mão) at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.  Her husband of 30 years, Nguyễn Văn Chương (Chaffee), sons, Calvin, Brandon and Steven, along with family members, filled the space with love when she took her last breath at 4:20 PM pacific time (giờ Dậu (17h - 19h)).

Hồ Thị Yến (maiden name) was born in Sài Gòn, Việt Nam in 1965 ̣(Ất Tỵ, date unknown).  Her father, Hồ Tiến was from Điện Bàn, Quảng Nam and her mother, Đoàn Thị Ánh, was from Duy Xuyên, Quảng Nam.  A Vietnamese boat refugee survivor, she and her family resettled in Chicago, Illinois in November 1980.  She put herself through college and received a degree in nursing from Midstate College in Peoria, Illinois.  After college, the Hồ family relocated to Los Angeles County, California to be closer to the Vietnamese community.  It was in Little Saigon, Orange County where she met the love of her life in 1990.

She married Nguyễn Văn Chương (Chaffee) in 1993 and lived a fulfilling life of stability and dedication to family, while balancing a full time career.  She worked as an apparel production import/export compliance officer for over 27 years, and retired early during the pandemic in 2020.  She loved growing orchids and flowers, cooking and baking, and enjoyed traveling to destinations near and far.

Amanda Yến was predeceased by her father, Hồ Tiến.  She is survived by her husband and three sons; her mother Đoàn Thị Anh; her three sisters (Hồ Thị Xuyến, Hồ Thị Kim, Hồ Thu Thủy) and her four brothers (Hồ Văn Chiến, Hồ Văn Chính, Hồ Văn Phú, Hồ Văn Đạt).
