Gigi’s Anti-Gravity Adventure
Queue Experience:
A long shot shows a heightened reality, retro future suburban white-picket house. Everything appears normal aside from the colorful explosion marks on the garage exterior (as well as the makeshift tubes with lava lamp liquid, tesla coils sparking and spinning satellite dishes.)
Off the sidewalk towards the lawn, guests enter past the attraction marquee (queue or express queue entrance) they find themselves in the front lawn. The sound of mourning doves singing sets the atmosphere.
Winding through the yard, which is the extended exterior queue for the attraction, guests notice subtle storytelling elements such as playground equipment with science experiments done in the yard. The family cat hiding in a tree. Guests pass onto the front porch (flat for ADA accessibility) and through the front door of the house.
As the line progresses, guests enter into the mudroom, where coats of various sizes hang on hooks, and a calendar that reads small events that touch on the family’s back stories and in bold red it reads: "One Week Until Science Fair!"
Inside, the home is very lived-in and warm. The living room showcases framed family photos, scattered toys, a bookshelves and a fireplace mantel. The television is mounted on the mantel and has a home-made video quality briefing on the experience.
The line progresses around furniture and props as a subtle switchback queue setup. The queues pass by an animatronic of the family’s pet dog, Cookie, sitting on a dog bed with an invention/ experiment known as the animal translator. His collar is connected to a strainer colander bowl on his head and audio comes out from the collar every 20-30 seconds narrating the dog’s thoughts.
The queues continue through the living room and the express queue branches off to a room to the left of the fireplace and enters the office (merge room). The standard queue continues on past the fireplace and past a pair of shoes jerry-rigged with gizmos. The shoes are called Zero-G shoes and footprints are shown near the shoes on the ground and up the wall and on the ceiling as a storytelling element. The cat is sitting on the mantel looking down at guests.
Continuing through the disguised switchback queue system, guests pass a piano and more toys scattered. As guests move further through the queue they pass by the kitchen. A half-wall separates the queueing from the kitchen area. Guests can see the kitchen has many toys on the floor and cluttering the kitchen table, etc. They can see Gigi’s shrink-gun invention and the experiments she has done in the kitchen. Her little brother, Kai, has many toys set up in the kitchen as well as rube goldberg machines. There are drawings, magnets, photos and notes on the refrigerator which is slightly ajar.Guests may notice a sticky note stuck to the refrigerator: "Three Days Until Science Fair!". The cat, now perched atop the fridge, watches curiously at a mouse hole in the wall next to the fridge. On the opposite wall of the queue barrier is a half wall adorned with more child drawings and the open section shows the family’s sunroom which serves as the lobby area for the neighboring themed restaurant known as “Gigi’s Shrink Ray Cafe”
Continuing on through the hallway, guests walk through the bathroom where you can see the experiment of the clone-o-matic. Two of everything is in the bathroom, two bars of soap, two rubber duckies, etc. Behind the shower curtain reveals the cat's latest hiding spot. Further in, guests walk through a closet, and into the parents’ bedroom. The cat is under the covers of the bed with a bowl of cat food and a sign that reads “sleep dust testing in progress”. You can see the cat breathing and hear it purring.
Through the hallway and into the family’s office we can see the mother’s art studio, plastered in artwork. Next guests are led into the father’s office. It appears that the wall was torn down to combine the offices together! In the father’s side of the office we see an experiment known as “camo spray”. You can see keys clicking on the laptop, items moving on the desk, the chair slightly shifting and hear humming coming from the seemingly invisible father. Guests continue on into the hallway where the merge point is for express queue and regular queue, meeting up with where the express queue branched off earlier.
Through into the shared bedroom of Gigi and Kai, we see a bunk bed in which the bottom bunk is a fort covered in sheets and blankets. A shadow silhouette of Kai is rear projected onto these blankets to show him and reading a book as he reads it aloud and gets caught up on some of the big words, he is still learning to read after all!
Past toys and more playful creations, guests now are welcomed into the family’s garage, which has been turned into Gigi’s very own makeshift laboratory.
Blueprints and scientific formulas cover the walls, along with numerous crumpled notebook paper pinned up haphazardly. Plans for the experiments that are in the house are seen in this bedroom to show the process behind them. Scattered across the floor are prototypes of cardboard rocket ships, airplanes, and most importantly—the plans for an Anti-Gravity Laser Gun. One particular notebook page is circled in red: "SCIENCE FAIR TOMORROW!"
An animatronic version of Gigi is standing behind her workbench, her beloved cat is sitting inside a cardboard box. She is humming while working on her experiment and then excitedly welcomes us into her family's garage/ her workshop/ laboratory. She says she hopes we were impressed by her other experiments and inventions and that she hopes her mom and dad arent too upset with the mess she has made in the kitchen. She continues on:
"Tomorrow’s the big day! I’ve been working SO hard on my newest invention, an Anti-Gravity Laser, and now it’s finally time to test it! If I can get this right for the science fair tomorrow, I’m going to FLY!"
Gigi excitedly yanks on a rope-pulley, raising a cardboard box to reveal the Anti-Gravity Laser. She activates it and zaps the cardboard box that the cat is sitting in, and it miraculously hovers. The cat lets out a startled meow as it floats gently.
"It worked! It actually worked! But if I’m really going to prove this at the Science Fair, I need a bigger test subject… And YOU are perfect for the job! Meet me in the backyard!"
She turns back to tinker with her gadgets at her bench as the cat and cardboard airplane slowly descend back onto the surface and reset for the next group of guests in the preshow room.
Ride Experience: Guests exit the pre-show room and step into the backyard, where ride vehicles resembling whimsical, handcrafted cardboard boxes await.
Once onboard, guests feel a gentle hum beneath them as the ride begins to move forward. They pass by Gigi and her cat, who aims the Anti-Gravity Laser at them. A burst of wind whooshes past, simulating the zap—suddenly, the vehicles begin to lift off the ground!
"IT'S WORKING! WE'RE FLYING! We’re totally going to win the Science Fair for sure!"
Guests now control their ascent and descent using joysticks, maneuvering their floating craft up and down. The ride takes them through a whimsical, weightless flight above the backyard. As the ride gradually lowers back to the ground, Gigi cheers, "That was AMAZING! Thanks for helping—I just KNOW we’re gonna take home the blue ribbon!"
Exit & Post-Ride Experience: As guests disembark, they exit through the side lawn and into the shed/garage, where the dad’s workbench is covered in old projects, cartography books, and nostalgic keepsakes. On a nearby shelf, a First Place Trophy and a Blue Ribbon are proudly displayed next to a photo of Gigi with her parents and brother - commemorating the greatest Science Fair victory ever! The cat is hiding in here too as well as in every single room throughout the experience.
