I am recruiting a PhD student to join my group for a three-year position starting in Fall 2026. The position is funded by the ERC Starting Grant 101220476 – NonErgHydro.
The project focuses on nonequilibrium phenomena in quantum many-body systems. Research directions include:
emergent hydrodynamics in many-body systems
cold atoms: theory and active collaboration with experimentalists
integrable models, generalized hydrodynamics and soliton gases
quantum simulators of confinement physics
monitored quantum systems
The ideal candidate is well-motivated with an inclination towards analytical methods, and a strong background in quantum mechanics and statistical physics.
Basic programming skills and a genuine interest in collaborating with experimentalists are appreciated.
Priority will be given to written applications submitted before 20th May, and the shortlisted candidates will be invited for a brief online interview shortly after. Late applications may be considered in case no suitable candidates are identified in the first selection.
Applicants should send to my email address with subject "PhD_Surname" and the following material:
Curriculum Vitae.
A minimum of one and a maximum of two recommendation letters from senior scientists.
A brief narrative summary of their master's thesis project (one page max).
For informal inquiries, candidates are welcome to contact me directly by email.
