Hans Grim is the head choir director for Alvarado High School. He is also the assistant conductor of the Dallas Symphony Children’s Chorus, where he collaborates with his dear friend, Ms. Ellie Lin. Hans is a frequent guest music director for Dallas’ Lyric Stage and has played or conducted over 50 musical theatre productions in DFW theatres as well as multiple times for the national tour of Mamma Mia. As a collaborative pianist, he has played for TMEA region concerts, TCDA clinics, multiple high school and college choir concerts, and musical theatre showcases and cabarets.
He has his Master’s of Music Education from Tarleton State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Texas Wesleyan University.
He is married to local actress and teacher, Mary Gilbreath Grim. Together they have three talented children, Max, Rose, and Maddie.
Starting her thirteenth year as a choral music educator, Brittany Haywood is now in her third year as the Assistant Choir Director at Alvarado High School. She is also excited to start her first year as the Training Choir Director for the Dallas Symphony Children’s Chorus.
During the 2023-24 school year, the Alvarado Varsity Mixed Choir was proud to be featured at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), working with choral composer, Nick Page. While in Alvarado, her choirs have consistently earned sweepstakes trophies at University Interscholastic League (UIL). She also co- directed the Alvarado Intermediate School Honor Choir of select fourth and fifth grade students last year to provide them with an introduction to singing with good vocal technique in a choral setting.
For the past ten years as a collaborative pianist, Brittany has played for TMEA Region concerts, UIL concert and solo contests, as well as many school concerts. She also enjoys playing piano at her church, First Presbyterian Church in Duncanville, Texas.
Brittany earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Baylor University in 2012 and has begun graduate work in music education at Vandercook College. Previously, she was a member of the Dallas Symphony Chorus, Voices of Fort Worth, Fort Worth Choral, and is currently a long time member of the gospel group, Dejuan Adamson and the Anointed Worshippers. She is married to Joseph Haywood and loves spending time with their four dogs, Cocoa, Brownie Pearl, Little Man, and Mr. P.
