Hans Grim - Director
Hans Grim is the head choir director for Alvarado High School. He is also the assistant conductor of the Dallas Symphony Children’s Chorus, where he collaborates with his dear friend, Ms. Ellie Lin. Hans is a frequent guest music director for Dallas’ Lyric Stage and has played or conducted over 50 musical theatre productions in DFW theatres as well as multiple times for the national tour of Mamma Mia. As a collaborative pianist, he has played for TMEA region concerts, TCDA clinics, multiple high school and college choir concerts, and musical theatre showcases and cabarets.
He has his Master’s of Music Education from Tarleton State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Texas Wesleyan University.
He is married to local actress and teacher, Mary Gilbreath Grim. Together they have three talented children, Max, Rose, and Maddie.
Brittany Haywood - Director
Starting her twelfth year of teaching music at the secondary level, Brittany Haywood joins Alvarado as the Assistant Choir Director. She holds a BME in Choral Music from Baylor University and has recently been accepted into Amberton University's MA School Counseling Program. Brittany has an impressive musical background, having accompanied TMEA Region choirs, UIL choirs, solo vocalists, and instrumentalists for UIL Solo and Ensemble. Currently, she also plays part-time at First Presbyterian Church in Duncanville. Previously, she was a member of the Dallas Symphony Chorus and currently expresses her passion for singing through participation in the Fort Worth Chorale and the gospel group, Dejuan Adamson and the Anointed Worshippers. Beyond music, , she enjoys cooking with her husband and sharing part of the meal with their fur baby, Cocoa.
