When I first joined the project my first year at RIT the device was meant to have been built already, but it no longer functioned. As such our group had to begin by rewiring the device. This required us to modify the original design since to present at Imagine RIT requires exhibits be approved by safety. We obtained approval by adding a shut down switch that could be pulled to stop the device in an emergency as well as enclosing the previously unenclosed wires.
We set the exhibit up like a carnival game to make it interactive, thus getting more attention from younger audiences and their parents. For this year we tacked water balloons filled with air to a board. From there participants could rotate the dart launcher on a platform to aim and press a button to fire.
Balloons not popping even when hit.
Darts rebounding off of board.
The device would overheat and have to be periodically shut down throughout the day.
