Here are some of the most common questions clients ask before beginning their work with Alterations Change Works. Whether you’re curious about what to expect in hypnosis, how Energy or Field Work fit in, or how to prepare for your first session, you’ll find clear answers here. Use the drop downs below.
All new clients begin with a $10 Discovery Session. This short session allows us to clarify your goals, answer questions, and determine the most appropriate path forward before any full work begins.
After the Discovery Session, work may include:
Energy Alignment
A standalone 30–40 minute session focused on energetic regulation and recalibration.
Pattern Reset Hypnotherapy
Structured hypnotherapy packages that work directly with subconscious patterns, habits, and emotional responses.
Deep Change Sessions
Advanced hypnotherapy integrating subconscious work, Superconscious processes, and energy alignment for more complex or layered issues.
Past Life / Interlife / Future Life Progression
A structured two-session process for clients specifically seeking Past Life, Interlife regression or Future Life progression work.
There is no rigid category you must fit into. The Discovery Session allows us to understand what you want to change or achieve, and from there we decide the most suitable structure.
Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention. It isn’t sleep, mind control, or being “under.” It’s a normal mental state that people move in and out of every day — when driving on autopilot, absorbed in a book, or deeply focused on a task.
In session, we use that natural state deliberately. You remain aware, able to speak, and able to stop at any time. Nothing happens without your cooperation. Hypnosis works through guided attention and imagination, allowing the mind to rehearse new responses and loosen old automatic patterns.
There is no special feeling you need to achieve. Some people feel deeply relaxed, others feel calm and alert. Both are valid. Hypnosis is less about how it feels and more about how the mind engages with suggestions.
You don’t need perfect visual imagination. You might picture things clearly, sense them vaguely, or simply think the words. The subconscious responds to intention and participation, not performance.
Research shows that during hypnosis, activity shifts in areas of the brain involved in attention, habit, and emotional learning. This is why it can be an effective tool for changing patterns that feel automatic or stuck.
Hypnosis is not a trick or a performance. It’s a structured way of working with attention and learning so new patterns can be installed and reinforced safely over time.
Most people can experience hypnosis if they are willing to participate. It’s a cooperative process — not something done to you, but something we do together.
You don’t need special talent or a vivid imagination. You simply need the ability to follow guidance and engage your attention. Hypnosis works best when you allow yourself to participate rather than trying to force or analyse the process.
My role is to guide the structure of the session. Your role is to engage with the instructions in a practical, ordinary way. When both sides cooperate, hypnosis becomes a reliable tool for working with habits, patterns, and emotional responses.
It’s less about “going under” and more about learning how to use your mind deliberately.
No. You remain aware and able to stop at any time. Hypnosis is not a loss of control — it’s a state of focused attention where you are actively participating in the process.
You hear everything that is said. You can accept or ignore suggestions. If you wanted to open your eyes or end the session, you could do so immediately.
The session is structured to feel steady and safe. My role is to guide the process. Your role is to remain engaged and cooperative. Nothing happens without your agreement.
Hypnosis doesn’t remove control — it gives you a structured way to work with patterns that normally run automatically.
This depends on the person and the issue. Some clients feel noticeable shifts quickly. Others benefit from a short series of sessions to stabilise change. Most clients experience meaningful change within 3–4 sessions, though some notice breakthroughs sooner and others benefit from longer-term support.
Most work is structured in small packages rather than open-ended appointments. This gives enough repetition for the mind to learn and reinforce new patterns without dragging the process out.
During the Discovery Session we discuss your goals, how long the issue has been present, and what level of support is appropriate. There is no pressure to commit beyond what makes practical sense.
Change is not measured by speed. It’s measured by whether the new pattern holds in everyday life.
Hypnosis is used to work with habits, emotional responses, learned behaviours, and areas of life where change or improvement feels difficult to access through effort alone. It can be applied to both problem-focused work and personal development.
Clients commonly seek help with:
• Habit change (smoking, vaping, alcohol, food patterns, gambling)
• Anxiety, stress, and overthinking
• Sleep regulation
• Confidence and performance
• Fears and phobias
• Emotional recovery after difficult experiences
• Skill development and mental rehearsal
• General improvement when something feels “off” but hard to define
• Regression or progression work (past life / interlife / future life)
Hypnosis is not a cure-all, and results vary from person to person. It is an effective method for working with mental and emotional patterns, and when someone is ready to engage with the process, change can occur more quickly than many expect.
We discuss your goals in the Discovery Session and determine whether hypnosis is an appropriate tool for what you want to address.
The Superconscious is a term used to describe a higher level of awareness — experienced by some as a part of the mind, and by others as a deeper aspect of the self that extends beyond everyday thinking. Many people refer to this as the Higher Self. The language is flexible; what matters is how it functions in the work.
In Deep Change Sessions, hypnosis is used to access this level of awareness and invite it to guide the process. Rather than analysing problems from the surface mind, the intention is not to force change, but to allow solutions and integration to arise from a part of the mind that sees more than the conscious layer can.
People experience this in different ways. Some notice emotional resolution, some gain insight, and others simply feel a sense of internal settling. No belief system is required. You don’t need to interpret the experience spiritually for the work to be effective.
Superconscious work is included only when appropriate and when a client is comfortable with that framework.
Energy work focuses on the person’s energetic systems — checking how energy is flowing, identifying areas of restriction, and correcting flow so it is as optimal as possible for the individual.
In session, we assess energetic movement and remove blockages that interfere with balance. The aim is not force, but restoration of natural flow. When energy systems are running cleanly and at an appropriate rate, people often feel clearer, steadier, and more physically and emotionally settled.
The framework I use is based in an Ancient Egyptian model of the human energy system. Sessions follow established protocols I have been trained in, guided by both structure and practitioner intuition. The process is systematic, but always adapted to the individual.
Energy Alignment sessions can be standalone. Energy work is also integrated into Deep Change Sessions.
The goal is stabilisation and optimisation — helping the person function at their natural baseline rather than compensating for energetic strain.
The Discovery Session usually lasts around 30 minutes.
Full working sessions are usually about 60 minutes, and occasionally up to 90 minutes depending on the type of work. Subsequent sessions typically fall within the 45–60 minute range.
These are approximations. Every client is different, and I allow enough time to complete the work without rushing.
Please arrive on time, as there is no waiting room available. If you need to leave by a specific time, let me know in advance so we can plan accordingly.
Your first appointment is a Discovery Session. This is a short, structured conversation rather than a hypnosis session.
During this time we clarify what you want to change, review relevant background, and discuss how the work would be approached. You can ask questions, and we decide whether moving forward makes practical sense.
No full hypnosis work begins until after the Discovery Session. This ensures the process is matched to you and that expectations are clear on both sides.
All new clients begin here.
Yes. Both hypnosis and energy work are considered low-risk when practiced appropriately, and sessions are structured to keep you aware and able to stop at any time.
Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention. You remain conscious, able to speak, and able to end the session whenever you choose. Nothing is done to you without your cooperation.
Energy work is non-invasive and gentle. The aim is regulation and balance rather than force. Most people experience it as calming or settling.
Neither process involves surrendering control. They are structured tools you participate in.
If you have medical or psychiatric conditions, we discuss this during the Discovery Session to ensure the work is appropriate and safe for you.
Yes. Hypnosis and energy work can both be conducted online, and many clients choose this option for convenience.
Yes. I offer hypnosis and energy work sessions online, and they are just as effective as in-person sessions.
Online sessions follow the same structure as in-person sessions. You’ll need a quiet, private space, a stable internet connection, and ideally headphones so you can focus without interruption.
Working from home removes travel time and allows you to stay in a familiar environment. For some people this makes it easier to relax and engage with the process.
We discuss suitability for online work during the Discovery Session to ensure it’s the right format for you.

❓ How should I prepare for a session?
Preparation is simple. Arrive clean, comfortable, and able to focus.
A few practical guidelines help the session run smoothly:
• Wear comfortable clothing
• Avoid alcohol or recreational drugs beforehand
• Drink water and arrive reasonably hydrated
• Take a moment to clarify what you want to work on
• Let me know at the start if you need to leave by a specific time
You don’t need to “perform” or prepare mentally. Just arrive willing to engage with the process.
No practitioner can guarantee outcomes. Hypnosis is a cooperative process, and change depends on how a person engages with the work.
I guide the structure of the sessions and provide the methods. You decide how fully to participate. Suggestions cannot be forced — you always retain the ability to accept, ignore, or modify them. That autonomy is part of how hypnosis works.
Most clients notice change when they engage consistently and apply what we work on between sessions. The pace and extent of change varies from person to person.
Results depend on individual readiness, participation, and follow-through.
