An excerpt of an email from the Principal.
"Each day, our cafeteria staff ensures no student is ever denied a meal, even when some students come to school without money for lunch. We proudly serve all students each day regardless of financial circumstances. However, at the middle school level, many students and families become responsible for the cost of school meals for the first time, and some families experience difficulty managing these expenses.
For background, the standard cost of breakfast is $1.75 and lunch is $3.25, or approximately $5 per day or $25 per week for one student. Applying for need-based free or reduced lunch reducesthis cost for some students; however, most families at A.L. Stanback have already submitted this application and the needs persist.
We welcome donations to the School Lunch Angel Fund to help cover the cost of breakfast and lunch for students and families who are unable to pay off outstanding school lunch balances at A.L. Stanback. Any amount would be greatly appreciated.
To donate, please send a check made out to A.L. Stanback Middle School, with the memo line “School Lunch Angel Fund,” to the attention of our School Bookkeeper Ms. Faith Welch (copied). Ms. Welch will provide a receipt for all donations. 100% of donated funds will be used to reduce outstanding lunch debts for families who are unable to pay for their children’s school meals.
Thank you for your consideration and generosity. Please feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions.
All the Best,"
