ALPINE CLUB OF AZAD KASHMIR


INTRODUCTION:

1. Allah has blessed Kashmir with rich mountain heritage of rugged and vast Karakorams. Himalayas and other mountain ranges, including five out of total 14000m above 2175ft. high peaks on earth, making it as paradise for mountaineers and endless sea of rugged rock and ice pinnacles lure Climbers for challenging rock and ice pinnacles lure climbers, and trekkers and nature lovers each year from the world over. Mountaineering, rock/ice climbing is now a well-developed sport providing unparalleled adventure, challenge and thrill to those who dare. Technology continues to add new dimensions to these sports making at safer technical and competitive. The rock and indoor/artificial competitive climbing is becoming rapidly popular amongst youth the world over with numerous competitions being held at international levels. Soon this sport will find its way into the Olympics.

2. The club is dedicated to the promotion of mountaineering and mountain related activities in Kashmir and Pakistan. It aims at providing facilities, including training to all mountain and nature to enjoy the boundless beauty and challenge of the mountaineering areas of Kashmir and Pakistan. It was founded in 1988 and registered 1999; Azad Kashmir sports Board under the Companies Act. It enjoys close support of Azad Kashmir Tourism.

3. Individuals from all walks of life irrespective of their background, sex, age, educational level, profession and social status can become members of Alpine club of Azad Jammu & Kashmir of AJK.

OBJECTIVES:

Alpine club of Azad Jammu & Kashmir of AJK aims at achieving following:

Ø Cultivate mountaineering and outdoor culture amongst the nature lovers and interested persons, especially youth by providing facilities for mountaineering and mountain related activities.

Ø Promote and organize mountaineering expeditions either single or in collaboration with other mountaineering Organization Club Climbers.

Ø We also trained Camping for Schools, Colleges and University level in basic leadership and Business Administration and Paramedical Rescue for both male and female.

Ø Organize training in mountaineering, Rock, Snow/ice climbing, indoor climbing, tracking and for other Club activities organize high altitude porters. Mountain and trekking guides and other categories of adventure Tourism Industry Personal organize and participate in Ice, rock indoor competitive climbing and championships/tournaments, both at home and abroad.

Ø Organize trekking trips and summer/winter camps.

Ø Facilitate visiting expeditions by providing club member and other required/desired support.

Ø Advise all concerned and provide coordination on mountaineering and mountain-related matters.

Ø Represent and safeguard Kashmir’s interest at Tourism Pakistan Alpine Club, AJK Sports Board, AJK Tourism, WWF and Youth Academy of Pakistan.

Ø Ensure protection of the mountain areas and their environment independently or in collaboration with governmental or other non-governmental agencies.

Ø Maintain archives, prepare and provide in formation and data on Mountain.

THE CLUB ACTIVITIES:

The healthy adventure sports activities of the Club provides a sound base of building character qualities develop sense of comradeship and prepare youth to face the challenges imposed by the practical life, Nature lovers of all age groups can participate in the Club activities commensurate with their physical fitness, training and experience. The Club Activities are, therefore designed to accommodate varying degree of interest capabilities of the mountain and Nature lovers from trekking and rock climbing in the low hills to high attitude mountaineering in the North areas. All there activities provide the challenge and adventure to the participants with at most personal safety. Participation in the adventure sports and activities however require some sufficient training equipment and clothing may prove to be at times hazardous. Mountaineering and expeditionary climbing requires highest standards of physical and medical fitness.

We organize activities using venues that are within easy reach of your location. Hotel & conference center grounds delivering team building activities, school & youth centers delivering outdoor team building activities, local parks delivering team building & outdoor adventurous activities mountain biking, raft building, mountain rescue, rock climbing, abseiling, gorge walking, problem solving, archery, mountain rescuer exercises, etc., Residential courses are tailor made around your aims & objectives & can be delivered at venues throughout the country.

TRAINING ACTIVITIES

Training Objectives:

The training activities are aimed at promoting the Club objectives and facilitate its members

Training Activities Planned During the Year

Though following activities have been planned during the year, however customized coursed for specific activities can be arranged for groups from educational Institutions/Clubs/Organizations.

GENERAL INFORMATION

1. Participation Recommendations:

All those above 15 years of age can participate in the Club activates. Children of lesser age can attend activities specially designed for them. Although separate courses for ladies have been planned. But they can participate in all other courses and activities.

2. Personal safety:

Safety is our first priority, though climbing activities are safer then venturing crossing of a busy city road. The courses are supervised by the experienced and skilled instructors. Full safety measures are strictly followed in accordance with the laid down safety procedures. No compromise on these is acceptable.

3. Physical fitness:

One does not have to be an athlete to participate in the Club activities, normal fitness can work.

4. Course fee:

The course is conducted on no loss basis. Course fee is specified against each course. However these are subject to changes due to reasons beyond club’s control. School/colleges groups would be charged concession fees commensurate with number of candidates.

5. Mode of payment:

Through cash. Pay/postal order or bank draft only. Cheaques of any type are not acceptable. Cash is he accepted at the postal office. A proper cash receipt duly signed by the Club secretary should be obtained against all types of payments.

6. Refund policy:

Course fee is refundable. If the request for cancellation reaches the Clue one-week prior to the commencement of the course. For voluntary withdrawal from a course after it begins or in case of no show ups the refunds are not admissible. However, this does not apply to withdrawal during the course for reasons beyond candidate’s control. In such a case the refund will be made on par-rated basis. No refunds for the members disqualified for the laid down rules code of conduct, disciplinary or any other ground are admissible. The photocopy of receipt of payments must accompany refund claims.

8. Joining Instructions:

On acceptance of application a set of joining instructions covering pre-course information and advice as to when and where report and action required by the participants will by the Club.

9. Medical and physical fitness:

It is the interest of the participants and member to insure that they are both physically and medically fit for the intended course. The Club does not accept any responsibility in this regard. A Medical fitness certificate (part of joining instructions) duly endorsed by a qualified medical doctor will be submitted to the Club officials prior to the commencement of he course, failing which a members may be disqualified. Member may be disqualified. Members detailed for the mountaineering expeditions or as instructor with the courses will be medically examined under arrangements of the Club.

10. Clothing and Equipment:

Trainees should bring with them items of personal clothing and footwear indicated in the joining instructions. Training gear. Camping equipment and high altitude clothing (if required) will not be provided by the Club. Equipment damaged or lost during he course due to misuse or neglect by the trainee will be charged to the trainee.

11. Sponsorship:

Sponsorship is encouraged at all levels.

12. Medical cover:

Medical cover is provided and arrangement exists to evacuate causalities by various means.

13. Insurance:

No insurance cove is provided to the participants of the Association activities by the Association, except for the members nominated to participate in the mountaineering expeditions. Individuals are advised to make their own arrangements to provide insurance cover against personal accidents. Injury or loss of personal affects during the course of the Club activates.

14. Guides and Instructions:

All courses are conducted under the guidance and instructions of qualified and experienced instructors. According to under latest programmed it has been decided to arrange a Pakistani Coach for the training of the Mountaineers of Alpine club of Azad Jammu & Kashmir.

15. Disqualification:

Ø Trainees may be disqualified on the course/ activity on the following counts:

Ø Indiscipline

Ø Violation of code of conduct

Ø Late arrival

Ø Faradic level harems kaka bola insane hay.

Ø Any other act committed against the community code. Ethics or conduct contrary to the aims and objectives of the Alpine club of Azad Jammu & Kashmir.

16. Assessment and Certification:

Each participant is assessed for his performance on the Association activity/ course with recommendations for further/advanced activities. Participants are certified at the successful completion of the activity/course. On completion, each participant will be offered a certificate and a Club’s badge.

17. Participation in other Clubs Activities:

Nominations for participation are making by the club based on the individual performance on the courses/activities etc further information can be obtained from the Club offices or at local club representative/contact person. Mile stones have not been installed in these areas. Therefore approximate distance is shown in this table.

Time required to reach at the summit shown above is subject to the good weather, Extra tune can be required in bad weather conditions.

Mountaineers from abroad are suggested to losing all equipment and special food to be used at high altitudes with them as there things are not available at Muzaffarabad.

Is the single institutes which promote the tourism activities. We warmly welcome the tourists who have the join of Mountaineering, Rock climbing, Tourist guiding, Tour programs. We provide the different adventure leadership courses for School College and university level and multinational companies. We provide the all facilities for all kinds of tour transportation, residence with high stander.

Previous Events

  • First time in 1988 the Alpine Club of Azad Jammu & Kashmir was laid down in A,K
  • First young group consist of youth aged between 15 to 20 went of expedition in 1989.
  • Second expedition consist of twelve youth went on the most difficult peak named malika parbat 17356 ft, had climbed.
  • In 1994 the biggest event in at schools, colleges and universities level was held in Kashmir.
  • In 1995 a resolution was passed in effort to highlight and reform the political historical status of A.K.
  • First time in 1996 Executive council held meeting with Alpine Club in which stress upon the reformation of tourism & mountaineering.
  • In 1997 mountaineers of Alpine Club of Azad Jammu & Kashmir conquest the famous mountain Mad Ganja peak.
  • In 1998 at college universities and private level climbing
  • Courses were held and a kind of awareness was created among the youth for tourism and health.
  • In 1999 our mountaineering Club held expedition from Neelum valley to challas. With 25 participant and 40 potters.
  • In 2000 in Club with sports board of A.K a team consist of twelve youth representing A.K congested the most difficult peak named Mlika Parbat.
  • In 2000 the fourth biggest peak of A.k (Ajrian wali 545mt, was conquest.
  • In 2001the members of Alpine Club of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (consist of twelve youth representing A.K)with sports board of A.K a team consist of twelve youth representing A.K conquest the most difficult peak named Malika Parbat.17356ft with the support of A.K sports board.
  • In 2001 May 21st with Pakistan Alpine Club and Govt, set up ECO tourism mountain environments and rock climbing clinic.
  • In 2003 5th April Kashmir Alpine Club of Azad Kashmir was held a workshop on (ECO. tourism) with co-ordination of the Tourism Department AJK.
  • 20th Augst2003, in association with tourism department expedition (consist of 12
  • & Kashmir tried to conquest the (Sarwali peak) with its own resources.
  • First time in history July 2001 Pakistan &Azad Kashmir held mountain marathon race collaboration with Alpine Club of Pakistan and AJK tourism Department.
  • First time may 2002 large number of participant 150(BRC course) held in Majhoi Muzaffarabad Azad Kashmir collaboration with Alpine Club of Pakistan and Tourism department AJK.
  • In 2005 during the opening ceremony Purl continental hotel Muzaffarabad (Rock Climbing Demonstration) chief guest honorable Prime Minstar Srdar Sakanadar Haiat.
  • In 2005, associate membership with Alpine Club of Pakistan happened.
  • In 2006, work with Pakistan Alpine Club as the representative’s built schools.
  • American mountaineering association relief stuff was delivered to different places of A.K.
  • The executive members of American Alpine Club in co-ordination with Alpine Club of Azad Jammu & Kashmir played a big role in earth quake effected areas.
  • Alpine Club of Azad Jammu & Kashmir in co-ordination with Arabian Alpine Club, Pakistan Alpine Club is participation in reconstruction of earth quake areas`
  • First Kashmiri to Climb 8000 Mt. High Peak on earth Gasha-re-Broom II (the 5th Highest Mount of the world 2006).
