LDJam site might be down sometimes here's the Itch IO: https://tenthousandfireants.itch.io/ld59-radar-runnings
What I wanted: I wanted to figure out a fun way to use a top down where the character is more zoomed in so the world around you is in limited view, but using the radar dish that spins on the player character to find whats in the game world.
What I got done: I got the 3C's done in a way I'm happy with ( camera, controls, character) The player can move around how I wanted them to, the radar makes a block on the character change color if it's pointing at something good or bad in the distance.
I can shoot out a projectile, but for this release I did not finish and get it to destroy the enemy.
Roadmap: Find more fun. Make enemies get destroyed by projectiles, make the UX more interesting and figure out what to make the character instead of a square block. Then after that > AI_Enemy that chases/follows.
Future ideas I might go with:
Traps, pitfalls, signal jamming, radar can be turned off or on, some sort of procedural generated levels.

A custom small map I built with xbox gamers in mind after often noticing complaints of large download sizes that don't often work well on those systems. I took the base grass asset and made adjustments making it larger and taller, as well as adding in some color coding for range lanes.
There's a roadmap here for future iterations: https://github.com/tenthousandfireants/Micro-Conflict-RULES/blob/main/SM_Roadmap.png ( don't expect many updates for now, lots of other stuff going on)
This map is roughly 4x4 km square and takes place in a fictitious version of western Illinois, loosely inspired and derived from satellite imagery and GIS terrain imports, with a LOT of creative freedoms taken and adjusted. Granted I showed this one photo to my aunt and she really thought it looked like her front yard:
The theme for LD57 was "Depth" Which instantly gave me some extreme writers block in what mechanics and gameplay to really implement. I knew I wanted it to be honeycomb and bee aesthetics primarily because I was toying around with a custom character I bought from the UE store. (Fab now).

project can actually now be found in this repository:
What I did learn is personally I will build blank projects from the ground up in UE 5 as opposed to using the starter assets, as manny takes up unnecessary space for small mini projects.
