We recruit adults (18 years of age and older) from the UB campus and local community. 

• Our oldest research participant was 99 years young

We also recruit those who have a history of neurogenic language or cognitive disorders, including 

• Aphasia, including Primary Progressive Aphasia

• Cognitive-Communication Disorder

The process of research will vary from study to study, but there are a few things that you can expect when you participate in research with our lab:

• We want you to be comfortable in our space and with our staff. 

• We will describe all research activities and your rights as a research participant, including the ability to stop participating at any time.

Many of our research studies include tasks like:

• Naming pictures

• Reading or listening to words

• Completing puzzles and riddles

Some of our research equipment includes:

• Computer, mouse, and keyboard

• Button boxes

• Headphones and microphones

• Pen and paper
