Chemistry in Herbig Environments and their Exoplanet Relationships
The ALMA Large Program CHEER (Project Code 2024.1.01001.L) is currently surveying key tracers of planet-forming chemistry around a sample of 20 bright young (Herbig) stars, which are the preferential sites of nascent giant planets. The international collaboration behind CHEER is currently using this unprecedented dataset to characterize the unique planet-forming environments of these stars, place the sample in the context of structure and chemistry across the young stellar distribution, and understand implications for planet formation.
Data from the Large Program is on track to be fully observed by the end of the 2025. More content will be coming to this website in 2025 and 2026, as the ALMA CHEER collaboration proceeds with their data analysis, generates legacy pipelines and data products for the community, and publishes their findings.
