In this portrait of my friend, I used a style that fit her identity as a Procreate artist. The style consists of flat, simplified forms to mimic a clean, digital look. Yet these forms, which I layered on top of one another, create a detailed face that accurately captures her likeness.

This piece is meant to be viewed with (top image) and without (bottom image) the tracing paper. As I drew this, I referenced a real skeleton statue and several images from the internet.
Originally, the assignment was to draw the body standing straight and facing forward. It was the more practical way. However, I wanted to have fun with it. So I explored different poses and angles of the body and gave the drawing more personality.
For any who are curious, I created her name "Marronette" from the words "marrow" and "marionette."

When I look back at my recent vacation in Hawaii, one of the first things I remember is the color. From the cities to the forests to the coasts, it seemed to be everywhere. There’s always a certain feeling I get when I’m at places like this. Perhaps it’s freedom, peace, tranquility, or another word I won’t be able to name. But through earthy greens, summery yellows, soft oranges, and brisk blues, I can try.
