My teaching philosophy is more a constructivist approach, it is the idea that students learn by doing and not just listening and taking in information. I believe that there are so many different ways to teach information that using different methods and having students be active learners is a lot more important.
I strongly believe that you need to adapt your teaching to the new generation coming in, in order to keep students engaged knowing about the world surrounding them is important in order to be able to know your audience for lessons better. Including their culture into lesson plans and activities helps keep students engaged.
I also believe that teachers can learn from students just as much as students can learn from teachers. Making sure your students have a voice is extremely important, by doing so you are ensuring that you can learn about them and their needs in the classroom. Students also can provide their previous knowledge by doing this.
