When you visit or live in Japan, you must follow local rules for garbage disposal, which vary from region to region. This section will show you how we can separate the garbage in Numazu City.
For the Tourist
For the Tourist
For the tourist, you basically only need to consider about separating into three types of trash; burnable, non-burnable, and recyclable.
In the hotel you don't need much worry about separating it. Although you must try to collect your trashes in one place so that staff can easily clean up after you leave.
Burnable
For the burnable trash , this includes paper (that are difficult to recycle), dirty plastic containers, clothes, and raw garbage. Usually the red colored trash can is for burnable trash so if you struggled, you can check the color of the can.
Non-Burnable
Non-burnable trash is any type of plastic wastes that aren't or cannot be recyclable. If the color of the trash can is blue, usually that's for non-burnable garbage.
Plastic Bottles
You can throw plastic bottle to plastic bottles' garbage can. If you see the symbol of bottle, it is for the plastic bottle. Since it is for recycling, make sure you try to separate the cap and label.

For Residents
If you are living in Numazu, you must follow the rules to throw away the trash. You must separate in to mainly the four types, burnable, plastic containers and packaging, recyclable garbage and landfill waste.

Tree Branches and grass
Dirty plastic containers and packaging-Tubes of condiments, toothpaste, etc.
Paper waste- Pieces of paper smaller than a business card, Photographs, Tissue
Items requiring sanitary disposal- Socks, Underwear, Hats, Toothbrush, Scrubbing brush, Diapers, Razor, Toilet sand for pets
Other- Hair, Gummed tape, Crayons, Paint tubes, Paint, Ventilation fan filter
Plastic Containers and Packaging
When- twice per week, Before 8:00 AM
Where- At the garbage collection area
Type-
Bottles and Cups- Bottles of detergent, sauces, etc.
Plastic Bags and Wraps- Bags or wrappings that contained items, Plastic bags, Plastic wrap, Candy bags
Styrofoam containers and cushioning materials- Lunchbox containers, Meat and fish trays
