Popular Science Articles
One of our most important roles as scientists today is communicating about the work we do, why it matters, and how ecology shapes the world we all live in. I have worked as a science writer since 2022, using my articles to share information about local ecosystems, key conservation goals, and the joy of nature. My work is occasionally featured in local publications and can be found in the monthly(-ish) newsletter from the Kent Land Trust (KLT), a conservation non-profit in my hometown.

Community Engagement
Through the Katherine S. McCarter Graduate Student Policy Award, I received policy and communications training to travel to the US House and Senate offices in March 2025 and advocate for NSF funding.
In 2024, I spoke at Housatonic Valley Regional High School's annual Science Day event. Invited scientists from different fields, careers, and stages shared research and insights about what it's like to be a scientist and how we got to where we are.
In Spring 2024, I earned a spot in Hubbard Brook Research Foundation's Young Voices of Science program for a semester of public engagement training in outreach, writing, storytelling, and policy.
