Alison E. Holm

Assistant Professor
Nova School of Business & Economics

I am Assistant Professor (tenure track) at Nova SBE and a Research Associate at the Nova Center for Business, Human Rights and the Environment (Nova School of Law). I obtained my PhD in Responsible Management from Copenhagen Business School. 

I conduct research on corporate misconduct and human rights in the global setting, using mostly meso-level comparative methods, including qualitative comparative analysis (QCA).

My previous work was published in the Global Strategy Journal

In 2023, I was a finalist for D'Amore-McKim Dissertation Award of the International Management Division of the Academy of Management (AOM). In 2019, I received the Elite Research Travel Prize graciously attributed by the Minister of Higher Education and Science and HRH The Crown Princess of Denmark ($ 30 000) to support my research. 

I have reviewed for the Strategic Management Journal, the Global Strategy Journal, Organisation Studies and Journal of World Business. I received recognition as an Outstanding Reviewer from the Stakeholder Strategy IG of the Strategic Management Society (SMS) (2020) and received a Best Reviewer Award from the Academy of International Business (AIB) (2023).

I was a visiting PhD at Stanford University, Bocconi University and Catolica Lisbon. Before my PhD, I was policy analyst at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), working on responsible business. I also contributed to the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) at Copenhagen Business School.

I have worked and studied in eight countries, including Austria, Canada, Côte d'Ivoire, Denmark, France, the United Kingdom and the USA. I currently live in Portugal. In addition to English, I speak French (fluently), Portuguese (intermediate), German (intermediate) and Danish (reading).



I value responsible research, academic citizenship and collegiality.

I have been a member and reviewer at Academy of International Business, the Stakeholder Strategy Interest Groups at the Strategic Management Society, as well as Social Issues in Management and Organization and Management Theory divisions at the Academy of Management.
