ALIP Library Network Guidelines
1. Network Participation:
• Libraries participating in the network must be located within the territory of India.
• The head librarian of each participating library must be an active member of ALIP with a valid membership of at least one year.
• Libraries are expected to participate in good faith and abide by the network's guidelines and procedures.
2. Resource Sharing:
• Libraries will make their physical collections of books and periodicals accessible on-site to registered users from other network libraries.
• Materials will be available for browsing, reading, and in-library photocopying based on each library's established policies and fees.
• Home circulation of materials is strictly prohibited through this network.
• Libraries may choose to offer additional resource sharing options, such as digital scans or interlibrary loan arrangements, at their discretion.
3. User Eligibility:
• Only registered users of other network libraries are eligible to access resources under this program.
• Users must present a valid letter of introduction from their home library head and a valid Photo ID Card, confirming their current student/faculty status.
• Users are required to follow the rules and regulations of the library they are visiting, including dress code, noise levels, and usage of electronic devices.
4. Communication and Collaboration:
• ALIP will facilitate communication among network members through regular meetings, online forums, and email updates.
• Libraries are encouraged to share best practices, collaborate on projects, and organize joint events or workshops.
• Feedback and suggestions from members are highly encouraged to improve the network's effectiveness.
5. Data Privacy and Security:
• Libraries are responsible for ensuring the privacy and security of user data in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
• User information will not be shared with any third parties without prior consent.
6. Dispute Resolution:
• Any disputes arising from this network will be resolved amicably through discussions between the involved parties.
• If an amicable resolution cannot be reached, ALIP may act as a mediator to facilitate a solution.
7. Termination:
• A library's participation in the network may be terminated by ALIP for violation of these guidelines or non-compliance with the MOU.
• A library may choose to withdraw from the network at any time by providing written notice to ALIP.
These guidelines are subject to change at the discretion of ALIP, with due notice given to all network members.
