My work is about joy. As it is my middle name, I strive to embrace a whimsical,
colorful, open-minded, artistic way to see the world and translate it for others to see.
A freedom to express, in a world that is dark and serious and too often depressing.
I make spontaneous art that escapes rules and boundaries, creating pieces where the
sole focus is bringing joy. This is through bright colors, funky patterns, high contrast,
and unique letterforms. For example, a piece titled “Create Joy,” an etching print in
turquoise that has bold letters, florals, and sparkles.
As a graphic designer, I am organized and focused. My work plays within the lines,
drawing the viewer in with composed layouts that are readable and correct. It’s not
messy; it’s put together specifically and neatly.
The struggle I face is combining the two sides. In my mind, art and design are
separate entities, but I’m working on overlapping them to create the most unique and
creative pieces.
Altogether, my work attempts to articulate that the viewer is not alone, expressing my
own identity and otherness, through my joyful interpretation of the world. I want to
tell stories that inspire others to share their own. And hopefully, make a difference in
the world one piece at a time.
