I took this design from the machine gun and tried to modify it to insert into it all the futures I've learned this week, and I chose this particular shape for its simplicity
This week I used fusion software because this program can design 3D and save in STL format to print on Prusa 3D printer machine but before printing we will use Prusa slicer software to convert STL format to Gcode and set some things on the design like layer height and adding supports or not and control the infill in design
we going to use PLA filament as a material in 3D printer
I watched all the videos of teaching fusion tools like revolve , loft , sweep , joint , fillet, shell, chamfer, and others and started to design pen holder by drawing polygon with a certain dimension after that make a extrude and used fillet, chamfer for sharp angles in the design Beside
use of a trim tool to cut unnecessary draw and use the shell tool for places of pens and Then save the design in STL format and upload it to Prusa slicer
upload STL file on prusa slicer program then you choose the number of infill and choose print settings 0.2 mm or 0.3 mm and choose prusa printer MK2S then press the button slicer and this will show me the time needed to print and how much gram will be taken from the filament
After the completion of the pen holder design on fusion 360 program, the design was saved as STL format then the design is taken and put on Prusa slicer program and set the printing settings like layer height is 0.2mm Normal is perfect for most prints and Infill to 15% will fill your model with a zigzag pattern and this will increase the model strength while decreasing its weight and you also can add supports to your design or not the most important thing is printing time does not exceed 90 minutes and the size of the printed design is not more than 25 G than upload the design to memory card in GCODE format and there are some steps I do before starting print
1- Make sure that the filament temperature range includes the 210°C
2- Insert the card back to the machine
wait for a second until “Card Inserted” message appear
3- Click the control knob to access the Main Menu Then Select your file name
4- During the printing process, you can increase the printer speed by rotating the control knob This should increase the feed rate percentage.
my peer advised me to reduce the size of the design to fit the size and time stated in the printing conditions, I helped one of the colleagues to convert his design to DXF
First, I ask my peers if they didn't have the answer I go to the instructor
After finishing the design I put it on the prusa slicer and discover it's not suitable for printing because it does not meet the required conditions, and because of that I had to change all design
You should think carefully about the design before you start it
the new design
the original design
design in prusa slicer
in my opinion, this week is one of the most important weeks so far because I learned how to use fusion tools that will help me in the design of the final project like, revolve, loft, joint
The coolest thing this week is Receiving the pieces and wires for the fourth-week lessons and learn more from fusion software
I didn't forget that I spent more than a day designing the pen holder, but unfortunately this design didn't fit the stated printing requirements and I had to change the design completely
the exercise this week was to draw Fidget which consist of 4 parts and this was very fun exercise and i learn a lot of it
