Welcome to our monthly reading group.
We aim to bring together Algonquian specialists and theoreticians, in many cases with no prior experience of Algonquian to dialogue together to advance our understanding of these rich, complex languages.
Topics to be chosen by the members, and may include: allomorphy, vowel harmony and spreading processes, syllabification and metrical stress, and more.
For more information, check the Sessions, these will be updated and notes/materials or links to the papers will be added there.
We acknowledge that the lands on which Memorial University’s campuses are situated are in the traditional territories of diverse Indigenous groups, and we acknowledge with respect the diverse histories and cultures of the Beothuk, Mi’kmaq, Innu, and Inuit of this province.
Yale University acknowledges that indigenous peoples and nations, including Mohegan, Mashantucket Pequot, Eastern Pequot, Schaghticoke, Golden Hill Paugussett, Niantic, and the Quinnipiac and other Algonquian speaking peoples, have stewarded through generations the lands and waterways of what is now the state of Connecticut. We honor and respect the enduring relationship that exists between these peoples and nations and this land.
