AlexTV: Kids YouTube Control
Effective date: [April 20, 2026] Last updated: [April 20, 2026]
Plain-language summary. AlexTV is a parental control tool for parents. The parent is our user — not the child. We collect the minimum information needed to run the app, we do not sell your data, we do not show ads, we do not collect any personal information about your child (no names, no ages, no photos, no voices), and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children directly. The only child-related data we store is a minute counter used to turn the app off when the parent’s daily limit is reached.
This app, AlexTV: Kids YouTube Control (the “App,” “Service,” “AlexTV”), is operated by Michael Nguyen, an independent solo developer (referred to as “we,” “us,” or “our” throughout this policy). You can contact us at any time at mikemarlexa@gmail.com.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with (spoiler: almost no one), and the rights you have over it. By downloading, installing, or using AlexTV, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
AlexTV is designed for, marketed to, and intended to be used exclusively by parents and legal guardians (adults 18 years of age or older) to manage their child’s YouTube viewing experience. The App is not directed to children, does not contain a children-facing account system, and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where that higher age applies).
If you are under 18, please do not create an account or use the App without a parent or guardian’s involvement.
We take children’s privacy very seriously. The App is configured so that:
Only the parent or guardian creates an account and signs in. Children do not sign in, do not create accounts, and do not enter personal information into the App.
We do not collect any personal information about a child, including the child’s name, age, birthdate, photo, voice, email, contact details, precise location, or persistent identifiers tied to the child.
The only piece of information we store that relates to a child’s use of the App is an anonymous minute counter (how many minutes of allowed watch time have been used today) tied to the parent’s account. This counter is used solely to enforce the daily time limit the parent has set — for example, to automatically turn the App off when the limit is reached. It does not identify the child in any way.
The App does not include third-party advertising, behavioral advertising, ad-targeting SDKs, or third-party analytics that track children’s activity.
If you believe a child has somehow provided personal information to us, please contact us at mikemarlexa@gmail.com and we will promptly delete it. Our practices are intended to comply with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”), the “children’s” provisions of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR-K,” Article 8), the UK Age Appropriate Design Code, and equivalent laws.
When a parent creates an account, we collect the information needed to authenticate that account:
Email address (if you sign in with email).
Apple user identifier and, optionally, the name and email you choose to share (if you use Sign in with Apple). Apple may provide a relay email address rather than your real email; we never receive your real email in that case.
We do not collect or store passwords. Authentication is handled through Apple or through a secure sign-in flow by our authentication provider.
To make the App work, we store configuration you create, such as: the YouTube channels you approve, your chosen daily time limit, and related settings. This data is tied to your parent account and is only used to deliver the Service to you.
To enforce the daily time limit you set, the App stores an anonymous minute counter per child profile (for example, “40 minutes used today”) in our secure backend database. This counter:
Is not linked to any personal information about your child (no name, no age, no photo, no voice, no contact data — we never collect those).
Is tied to your parent account only so the App can turn off when the allowed time is up and can reset at the start of a new day.
Is not used for analytics, profiling, advertising, or any purpose other than enforcing the time limit you configured.
Is deleted when you delete your account.
When you use the App, our backend provider may log standard technical data such as a general timestamp, a request identifier, and general diagnostic information needed to keep the Service running and secure. We do not collect advertising identifiers (IDFA), we do not use tracking SDKs, and we do not build advertising profiles.
AlexTV offers monthly and annual subscriptions. All payments are processed by Apple’s App Store and subscription entitlements are managed through RevenueCat, our subscription infrastructure provider. We do not receive, store, or have access to your credit card number, billing address, or full payment details — those are held by Apple. From RevenueCat we receive only: an anonymous subscriber identifier, your current subscription status (active / inactive / expired / in trial), and the subscription tier you selected. This is used to unlock subscriber features in the App and to provide customer support if you request it.
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings on your device (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions).
We do not collect your child’s name, age, birthdate, photo, voice, or any identifying information about your child.
We do not collect individual viewing history, watched-video lists, search history, or behavioral analytics of any kind.
We do not collect your precise location (GPS).
We do not collect your contacts, calendar, photos, microphone, or camera data.
We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA) or cross-app tracking.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We use the limited information we collect for the following purposes only:
To create and secure your parent account and let you sign in.
To deliver the core features of the App (displaying approved channels, enforcing the daily time limit, loading video metadata from YouTube, etc.).
To provide and manage your subscription.
To respond to your support requests.
To send you service-related messages (for example, security alerts or material changes to this policy). We do not send marketing emails unless you opt in.
To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical issues.
To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
Under the GDPR, our lawful bases for processing are: (a) performance of a contract with you (to provide the App), (b) legitimate interests (keeping the App secure and functional), (c) consent (where specifically requested), and (d) legal obligation (where applicable).
We rely on a small number of carefully chosen service providers to operate the App. Each provider only receives the minimum information needed to perform its function. We do not sell your data to any of them.
Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store, In-App Purchase). Used for authentication and payments. See Apple’s privacy policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.
Supabase. Our backend provider (authentication, database, edge functions). Your account email, app configuration, and watch-time counter are stored in Supabase. See https://supabase.com/privacy.
Google / YouTube. The App uses YouTube’s publicly available video player, YouTube Data API, and public RSS feeds to display video metadata and play videos you have approved. Your use of YouTube content within the App is also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service (https://www.youtube.com/t/terms) and the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). When videos play, YouTube may collect technical information as described in its policy. We do not control this.
RevenueCat. Manages subscription entitlement. Receives an anonymous identifier and subscription status only. See https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy/.
These providers act as independent controllers or as our processors under applicable law and are contractually or by policy required to handle information responsibly. We are not responsible for the practices of third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share information only in these limited situations:
With the service providers listed above, strictly to run the App.
To comply with law. If we receive a valid legal request (such as a subpoena, court order, or other lawful process), or if disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others, or to investigate fraud or abuse.
Business transfers. If the App or its assets are acquired, merged, or transferred, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. You will be notified of any change in ownership or use of your personal information.
With your consent, for any other purpose disclosed at the time.
The App is operated by a solo developer. Our service providers (including Apple, Supabase, Google, and RevenueCat) store and process information in various countries, which may include the United States, the European Union, and others. If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to, and processed in, countries that may not offer the same level of data protection as your home jurisdiction. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or comparable mechanisms offered by our providers.
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. The daily watch-time counter resets each day as part of normal operation. You can request full deletion at any time (see Section 10).
You can:
Access, update, or correct your account information from within the App.
Delete your account by contacting us at mikemarlexa@gmail.com. When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to keep it by law (for example, transaction records required for tax or accounting purposes).
Manage or cancel your subscription at any time through Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device.
Uninstall the App at any time.
You have the right to: access your personal data; rectify inaccurate data; erase your data (“right to be forgotten”); restrict or object to processing; data portability; and withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at mikemarlexa@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share personal information), and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. To make a request, email us at mikemarlexa@gmail.com. We will verify your request by confirming you control the email address associated with your account.
Residents of states such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and others may have similar rights under their state privacy laws. Contact us at mikemarlexa@gmail.com to exercise them.
We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and encryption at rest through our backend provider. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You use the App at your own risk and are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
In accordance with Apple’s App Store requirements, the data types the App may collect are disclosed on our App Store product page under “App Privacy.” Data we collect is either not linked to you or, where linked, is used only to operate the Service — never for tracking across apps and websites owned by other companies.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated policy at this URL and update the “Last updated” date above. If the changes are material, we will provide more prominent notice (such as an in-App notice or email). Your continued use of the App after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
The App displays YouTube videos and may contain links to third-party websites or services. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or security of any third-party service. Your interactions with third parties are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the App is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, fully secure, or that it will block every piece of undesirable content. Parental controls are a tool to assist parents — they do not replace parental supervision, and content available through YouTube is controlled by YouTube and its creators, not by us.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall Michael Nguyen be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the App, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the App or this Privacy Policy shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except to the extent the laws of your country of residence require otherwise. Any dispute arising out of or relating to this Privacy Policy or the App shall, to the maximum extent permitted by law, be resolved through binding individual arbitration, and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action. This does not limit any non-waivable rights you have under applicable consumer-protection law, including GDPR rights to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority or to seek a judicial remedy.
