Teaching Philosophy
By taking EDU 315 Critical Media Literacy I have learned the importance of technology integration in the classroom. One teaching strategy that I would implement in the classroom is teaching my students that technology is a tool. I would teach my students not to be afraid of using technology to assist their work, since technology will only continue to advance. I will teach my students what tools they can use and how to use them to help them complete their assignments and use them in their everyday lives. Education technologies are already being implemented into the classroom as tools for students, teachers, and staff. Technology can be used to promote learning in all forms of classrooms, in-person, blended, and online classes. In an in-person classroom, technology can be used as a form for teachers to allow their students to display their creativity. It can also be used as a way to engage students in the lesson or amplify the educational lesson. Technology can also be used to accommodate diverse learning needs. There are programs designed for teachers to be able to differentiate lesson plans and activities for students with diverse learning needs. It can also be used to cater to each student's learning needs to implement a student-centered learning environment. Technology can be used to support the UDL framework. There are technology programs to help teachers create visuals and videos to show visual aids. There are choice-assisting technologies to support engagement choice and autonomy. There are also technologies that can allow teachers to display the captions as well to support representation. Overall, technology is made to assist our everyday life and we shouldn’t ensue fear of using technology in our students. Students should be able to learn the capabilities technology has. Technology is a tool and teachers should teach students how to use it as a tool in their everyday lives.
