Dr. Alexander Lau

I am a theoretical physicist previously working at the International Research Centre MagTop in Warsaw (Poland). My research revolves around topological states of matter and topological materials, for instance, topological insulators and topological semimetals. Topological phases are a fascinating field of research because their unconventional features, such as robust surface states, quantized physical observables, and exotic quasiparticles, not only challenge our fundamental understanding of matter but also have potential applications in electronics, spintronics, and quantum computing.

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Project

From August 2021 to May 2023, I carried out the Marie Skłodowska-Curie project MagTopCSL (ID 101029345)  funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. In this project, I explored topological devices based on chalcogenide superlattices and heterostructures.
