The Cultural Learning Library
Sharing traditional literature to improve reading and writing skills
Sharing traditional literature to improve reading and writing skills
Year 2. Project 2.
The brief was to design a Community Library on London Road in Sheffield. From my site analysis and wider research, I was made aware of the cultural diversity of the area with it's international restaurants, shops and community areas. As a result, I strove to design a library which would have both English copies and translated copies of traditional English and international literature from a wide range of languages. The aim of the library was to be used as a both a library for locals and as a learning centre where individuals could have language classes, using traditional literature to improve their english speaking and reading skills. My building featured a two story library with study spaces, a workshop space for classes and a cafe offering a diverse range of international foods.
