I am Professor of Environmental Economics at the Department of Economics of the University of Bologna. Prior to joining Bologna, I was Associate Professor at the London School of Economics, where I led the Changing Behaviour Research Programme at the Grantham Research Institute.

I am the PI of "GREEN TIPPING", a 5-year ERC Consolidator grant that investigates the effectiveness of "Social Tipping Interventions" to increase mitigation effort. To this end, the international research team combines insights from game theory, economic surveys, laboratory and field experiments. The focus is on environmentally relevant choices and behaviors, to identify cost-effective and scalable interventions with the potential to overcome inertia and catalyze a shift towards climate-friendly behaviors.
