The inspiration for this artwork is the struggle with the LGBTQ community and how it struggle to get equal rights. How in the beginning it was considered as a mental illness and that it’s a sin to be gay. Now it gained its rights and that they are loved more than they were before. This composition is comprised of a rainbow lion that jumped into a human silhouette’s arms, hugging and nuzzling. This portrays a lion is either saying thank you for helping me be free or saying to the silhouette that they are loved and welcome. As the silhouette can refer to anybody who is affected by the situation upon them. The media that is used to illustrate this are fabric overlay for the silhouette human, cotton overlay and spray paint for the lion’s mane, wires for the whiskers, oil dry brushing for the lions natural fur, stitching down the fabrics, torn edges and tape for the background and the term, ‘Mahal Kita’. Each of the materials that is used symbolically represents either a person or the whole community. The silhouette human represents any person who is affected by the community whether in a positive or negative way. As the person could be either happy about the lions presents or not happy but they have to tolerate the fact that the lion is on top of it. Angelica has illustrated a moment which depict a lion with abnormal mane hugging and nuzzling a human in which means for comfort and love. In hopes to visually communicate to the LGBTQ community that nobody is perfect and we all are beautiful no matter what. As there is always a beauty within pain.
