Aleea is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychological and Social Sciences at the University of Waikato. Her research examines the links between memory, imagination, and memory distortion, and how these change with age. Aleea completed her PhD at the University of Auckland, and a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University.

Eva's work examines how people remember their personal experiences, and what influences the stories they share about their lives. Eva has found evidence to suggest that the rises and falls in emotion in people's memories resemble the same trajectories found in Western fiction. These findings help us better understand the social nature of memory reconstruction, and demonstrate how this process is shaped by the conventions we learn for telling a good story and connecting with an audience.
