Christmas 2025 at MBG
In our first Christmas season as a group, we enjoyed plenty of activities in our department, including the Nisse Run, Julefrokost, a Hygge afternoon with the DEB lab, our own special Christmas Group Meeting, and the first-ever MBG Christmas Football Match. where Denmark claimed a disputed victory against the Rest of the World.
This year has marked a wonderful start for our young group. As the projects take off, we are excited about what 2026 will bring. We will welcome new colleagues from January and dive into even more exciting experiments!

Linderstrøm-Lang Centre Symposium
First (almost) whole lab conference!
Son, Josefine and Irene (a postdoc visiting us from the UEx) attended the Linderstrøm-Lang Centre Symposium in Copenhagen.
The focus of this year's symposium was ""Protein Chemistry in a Cellular Context".

Pablo visits IBFG in Salamanca
Pablo visited the Institute for Functional Biology and Genomics (IBFG) at his alma mater in Salamanca, Spain.
It was a wonderful and special visit. An opportunity to reconnect with friends and colleagues, and to hear about the exciting research at the institute.
Thanks a lot for the invitation!

Danish Cancer Society grant
We are extremely grateful and excited to have received support from a new Knæk Cancer grant from the Danish Cancer Society (Kræftens Bekæmpelse).
This funding will allow us to expand our research scope and grow our team.
Stay tuned for an new opportunity to join us, and read more in our deparment's news feed here.

Fanconi Cancer Foundation Symposium
Pablo attended the Fanconi Cancer Foundation Scientific Symposium in (sunny!) Minneapolis.
It was a wonderful opportunity to make new connections and learn from researchers, clinicians and FA patients from all over the world.
Thanks to FCF for the kind invitation to this truly inspiring meeting!
August-September 2025
Erasmus+ student Aleksandra Czerkowicz
As part of her master's studies at Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland, Aleksandra enjoyed the Danish summer with us, learning protein expression and purification, as well as cryo-EM sample preparation and data collection.
We were glad to host Aleksandra and wish her all the best in her next chapter!
September 2025
SMBio 2025 Nordics in Copenhagen
Pablo attended this fruitful two-day symposium bringing together single-molecule aficionados from all over Scandinavia.
It was fun to present in a movie theater in beautiful Copenhagen.

Son visits EMBL Heidelberg
Son took part in the DANEMO Excursion at EMBL Heidelberg, along with other MBG colleagues.
A wonderful trip to explore EMBL's imaging facilities, and connecting with researchers from across Europe.
Thanks to DANEMO for this opportunity!

Fanconi Cancer Denmark Family Meeting
Pablo attended the Fanconi Cancer Denmark Family Meeting, where he had the opportunity to hear first-hand experiences from FA doctors and patients from Denmark and Germany. He also shared our research on the fundamental mechanisms of DNA repair and their implications for Fanconi Anemia and cancer.
It was a fantastic experience, and we are very grateful to Fanconi Cancer Denmark for the kind invitation.

Excited to welcome the first members of our lab!
Josefine joined us in February as a postdoctoral researcher, bringing expertise in biochemistry and structural biology.
In March, Son started his PhD journey with us, focusing on cryoEM of DNA repair complexes.
And also this month, Joana is joining as a bachelor's student, eager to gain hands-on experience in protein expression and purification.

Christmas time at MBG 🌲
We celebrated the holidays with a fun Nisse Run around the campus, followed by a festive Julefrokost, and a special group meeting and dinner with the DEB lab.
As we bid farewell to 2024, a year full of changes and reasons to celebrate, we look forward to the new year, when we will welcome new lab members and dive into more exciting science!

The Lundbeck Foundation has prepared this video to present our project Unravelling the Structure and Dynamics of DNA Repair
19 September 2024
Pablo is in Copenhagen for the 2024 Lundbeck Fundation Fellow's celebration.
A great evening meeting LF alumni!
15 August 2024
First day at MBG.
The lab is open for business!
31 July 2024
The latest work from my postdoc is now out!
We show how FANCD2-FANCI (D2-I), a complex that helps resolve DNA crosslinks and replication stress, acts as a sliding clamp on DNA, stalling at single-stranded gaps to identify and protect damage sites.
31 May 2024
Our group was presented to the department at the 2024 MBG Annual Meeting.
Had a wonderful day at this beautiful venue (Aulaen). I was impressed by the ongoing science in the department and enjoyed a fun evening with my new colleagues!
May 2024
Pablo has been awarded a Lundbeck Foundation Fellowship!
Very grateful to the Lundbeck Foundation for their trust!
This grant enables us to explore the fundamental mechanisms of DNA repair in the context of chromatin.
