Music Director | Choral Conductor | Organist | Educator | Arranger
Dr. Alan Raines, DMA, is an internationally recognized Music Director, Choral Conductor, and Organist whose career blends artistic excellence with mission-driven leadership. With more than two decades of experience, he has directed celebrated choirs at Baylor University, Stetson University, and Highland Park United Methodist Church, cultivating communities where music inspires, heals, and unites. His work has taken him across 38 states and internationally to Europe, Canada, South Korea, and Russia, with landmark performances at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and in Paris at St. Étienne-du-Mont, where his choir made history as the first American ensemble to record Duruflé’s Requiem in the composer’s own church.
Alongside his musical achievements, Dr. Raines has brought the same spirit of excellence and compassion to nonprofit leadership. As Executive Director of One Man’s Treasure (2022–2025), a Dallas-based nonprofit serving men reentering society after incarceration, he tripled the operating budget, secured over $2 million in in-kind contributions, and expanded services to reach more than 3,500 men annually—over a quarter of the reentry population in North Texas. His leadership combined strategic growth with a deep commitment to dignity, inclusion, and second chances.
Dr. Raines is also a published arranger with works through Alliance Music Publications and Walton Music, and he is an active member of ACDA, NAfME, and other professional organizations. In August 2025, he will begin a new chapter as Music Director and Organist at the Episcopal Church of Saint Thomas the Apostle in Dallas. He and his wife, Amy, a nonprofit executive and fellow musician, enjoy life with their five children and their beloved Goldendoodle, Hildegard.
