Kalayatra 2023 :
Students from the Department of English actively took part in Kalayatra, a prelude to the Youth Festival that serves as a platform for creative expression. This event includes a thematic parade, allowing participants to present their artistic and conceptual interpretations. The department’s presentation highlighted *Nari Shakti Vandana* (Salutation to Women's Power), celebrating the strength, resilience, and contributions of women in society.
The participants expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the faculty for their unwavering guidance and support throughout the event. They also appreciated the efforts of those working behind the scenes, particularly in organizing and documenting the parade, whose contributions were instrumental in ensuring its success.
Youth Festival 2023 :
The 31st Manbhavan Yuvak Mahotsav, hosted by MKBU, celebrated Nari Shakti Vandana by showcasing events centered on women's empowerment. The festival commenced with Kalayatra, where the Department of English presented a model depicting women's historical and contemporary struggles.
Students actively participated in various competitions, including skits, quizzes, folk dance, and artistic events. Standout performances featured Mahamrityunjay, Christy Brown’s Biography, and Lokvadhy Vrundh. The festival concluded on a high note, with the Department of English securing silver medals in poster making and rangoli, making it a truly memorable and enriching experience.
Kalayatra 2024 :
The Youth Festival kicks off each year with the Kalayatra competition, where colleges and departments creatively present social themes through group performances. This year, the Department of English focused on the Condition of Education, shedding light on the adverse effects of social media, reels, TikTok, and substance abuse on students' academic progress.
The Kalayatra commenced from Shamaldas Arts College and concluded at Swaminarayan College, with various institutions highlighting critical social issues. Many colleges addressed themes related to women's safety and the growing concerns about sexual violence, making the event a poignant reflection of contemporary challenges.
Youth Festival 2024 :
The Bhav Spandan Youth Festival 2024 commenced with Kalayatra, where colleges showcased themes such as feminism, equality, and education. The Department of English focused on the influence of social media and substance abuse on students. The procession began at Shamaldas Arts College and concluded at Swaminarayan Gurukul, featuring vibrant Garba performances along the way. The festival included skits, mimicry, singing, and literary events that addressed pressing social issues. Although the Department of English did not secure a win, its students demonstrated remarkable teamwork and dedication, actively managing preparations and hosting literary competitions. The experience fostered a strong sense of unity, making the festival a truly unforgettable journey.
