Past Research

As a postdoc, I was a William M. and Jane D. Fairbank Postdoctoral Fellow belonging to the W. W. Hansen Experimental Physics Laboratory and the Department of Physics at Stanford University. I worked on the test of the inverse-square-law of the Newtonian gravity with a microsphere trapped in an optical tweezer in Prof. Giorgio Gratta's group. The major result is published on Phys. Rev. D, and I also worked on the characterization of the system and theoretical proposals on using the system for particle physics applications[1,2].


I received Ph.D. degree at Department of Physics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where I worked on a spin squeezed ytterbium atomic clock at Prof. Vladan Vuletić's group in Center for Ultracold Atoms. I built the lab from an empty room and established a way to perform nearly-unitary spin squeeze the ground state slin 1/2 system in 171Yb, which are summarized in my thesis and a bunch of papers [3-6]. The first result on the spin squeezed optical lattice clock is published on Nature


During this period, I also worked on theoretical calculation of magic wavelength for the hydrogen 1S-2S transition[7,8], and I proposed an experiment on isotope shift measurements of Yb+ ions for the fifth force search [9,10].
