User Guide for Spatial Map
Spatial map - map of temperature or rain for a single day (or range of days)
NOTE: Map is not generated automatically. Make all modifications first, then click button to create map.
Date(s) to plot
Time Span – Display map for a "Single Day" or range of "Multiple Days".
If Time Span is "Single Day" – choose the date (Month Day, Year), ex. Jan 01, 2024.
If Time Span is "Multiple Days" – choose the date range, ex. Jan 01, 2024 to Jan 05, 2024.
NOTE: The larger the date range, the longer the wait time will be for displaying the map.
Statistics for multiple days – For temperature, the mean over all days in the date range will be shown. For rain, choose stats to display: either "mean" or "sum".
Map properties
Color Map – Choose among a list of possible color maps for figure shading.
For temperature, toggle color map's extent: either "Full" (-20 to 120°F) or "Zoomed" (only shows range of data displayed).
Show tick marks – Toggle if tick marks are shown on the outer edges of the figure.
Tick stride – If tick marks are shown, choose the latitude and longitude spacing for each tick mark.
Map extent
Distance from query region – Indicate size of map in terms of distance (in degrees) in each direction from edges of query box.
Display stations
Show locations on map – Toggle if station locations are shown on the map.
If stations are shown – Choose the color of the station dots.
Station dot size – Use slider to change size of station dots.
