My main project is a series of swashbuckler stories set predominantly in the Caribbean in the late 17th Century, following the (mis)adventures of wandering rogues Kestrel and Scar.
Isiah Kestrel is a Cornish libertine who joined the navy to escape from his hometown after an apparent scandal. After travelling to the Caribbean, he took part in a mutiny and became a pirate, enjoying the independence which came with the life.
Jacob Scar is an Antiguan ex-slave who ran away to join the Maroons, before making a living as a mercenary and pirate. He and Kestrel met on Crab Island, a notorious prison off the coast of Antigua. After breaking out and escaping to Port Royal, the pair decided to travel together. With Kestrel's mouth and Scar's muscle (not to mention his ability to spot flaws in Kestrel's plans), they make ideal partners.
While serving on board a smuggler crew, Kestrel and Scar must make a merry trip around Charlestown to deliver contraband to their clients and collect payments. But their ship leaves at dawn, and the local militia isn't keen on smugglers.
This five-part serial is free to read on The Free Pen Collective here.
Rosanna Barclay has arrived in Port Royal from England, in search of her missing father. Upon arrival, she meets wandering scoundrels Kestrel and Scar, whom she hires as bodyguards.
She soon learns that her father was a pirate who disappeared after attacking a French payroll carrier. Worse, he double-crossed a powerful information broker who had originally bankrolled the theft.
Rosanna and her companions bluff their way aboard a pirate vessel in order to reach the island where the treasure might be. But their new captain isn't in favour of a treasure hunt, and the broker's agents are close behind.

Kestrel and Scar now have their own vessel, and have been tasked with taking Rosanna Barclay back to England. But they're now the most wanted people in Port Royal, and need to find a new haven.
Stopping for repairs in Tortuga, they're met by agents of the French Crown, and given a new mission: Shut down the operation of "Lord" Pettigrew, the so-called Pirate King of Port Royal.
With an offer of amnesty for their past crimes, they have no choice but to accept. But can their new benefactors be trusted? And what if Pettigrew's agents know they're coming?

Kestrel and Scar return to England with Rosanna Barclay, but her adventures with them are far from over. The English Winds have blown the Lady Faire to the Cornish coast where Kestrel grew up. And when Scar is injured in a shoot-out with a smuggler gang, a search for a physician puts them into contact with Kestrel's father.
As Kestrel seeks means to make sure Rosanna can set her own tavern, he's forced to confront the demons from his past. While the local smugglers have caches he's eager to plunder, he's also forced to deal with aftermath of a mistake he made that led to his piratical career. Neither his parents nor the local magistrate forgotten nor forgiven, and he finds another consequence he never expected.

One of my more experimental projects, The Bayfalls is a comic fantasy which centres around a sitcom dysfunctional family in a fantasy world where adventuring is on the decline.
You can learn about their hometown from "A Tour of Wardale".
If you wish to inhabit the world, you will be able to do so with the Misadventures in Planaterra mini-setting, an Adventuring Guild product currently in development for the Savage Worlds roleplaying system.
