Ajit Singha and Eva Asau in the Assamese film Kecha Son
In 1948, the silver screen of Assam witnessed the emergence of a new talent—Ajit Singh—who stepped into the world of acting through the film Siraj. Guided by the visionary direction of Phani Sarma and the legendary Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha, the film became the stage where Singh brought the character of Rafiq to life with remarkable ease and natural charm.
A decade later, in 1959, Ajit Singh rose to prominence as a leading man in Kecha Xon, once again under the direction of Phani Sarma. Starring opposite the graceful Eva Asao, he embodied the role of the hero with confidence and depth, further cementing his place in the early history of Assamese cinema.
