TRB 2025 Annual Meeting

RIIM held its Committee Meeting on Monday at 1:30 p.m. RIIM subcommittees and working groups were able to check in on progress and set the agenda for efforts in 2025 and beyond; calendar invitation and current draft agenda attached. This will be a HYBRID meeting and virtual attendance is encouraged if you are not at the Annual Meeting. New committee friends are always welcome!

The TRB Committee on Research Innovation Implementation Management (RIIM), AJE35, hopes you can participate in the many activities we’re sponsoring at the 2025 TRB Annual Meeting, to be held Sunday, January 5 to Thursday, January 9.

IMPLEMENTATION SESSIONS

For a third year running, RIIM is leading sessions dedicated to exploring how to put research into practice. Each of these sessions includes short presentations of four technical papers, followed by practitioner panelists responding on how to take next steps to implement the results.

Lectern Session 2009, Implementation of Concrete Materials Papers, cohosted by three concrete materials committees (AKM50, AKM60 and AKM70). Monday at 8 a.m.
Lectern Session 3173, Implementation of Artificial Intelligence Papers, cohosted by the Committee on Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Computing Applications, AED50. Tuesday at 3:45 p.m.

POSTER SESSIONS

RIIM is sponsoring three poster sessions, to be held concurrently on Tuesday at 1:30.

Poster Session 3152, State Department of Transportation Research: High-Value Project Winners, celebrates the best in state DOT research for 2024 as voted upon by AASHTO Research Advisory Committee members.
Poster Session 3153, State Department of Transportation Research: Supplemental Research Award Winners, highlights the additional award-winning state research in the areas of safety and maintenance, management and preservation.
Poster Session 3154, Highlighting Projects in Research Innovation Implementation Management, features solicited efforts across transportation with noteworthy research and innovation processes and outcomes.

Rail Transportation Research and Innovation - Insights from Recent European Union Projects

The Transport Research and Innovation Monitoring and Information System (TRIMIS https://trimis.ec.europa.eu/) gathers information about transport research and innovation activities and analyses them. It contributes to the provision of up to date and reliable information in support of the research community, transport stakeholders and policy makers. TRIMIS publicly available, open database contains detailed information about research and innovation projects (over 9000 and counting) in Europe and beyond. The TRIMIS platform is developed and implemented by the Joint Research Centre, the European Commission's Science and Knowledge Service, on behalf of the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission.

The RIIM Committee teamed up with the International Coordinating Council (A0020C) and Standing Committee on Strategic Management (AJE10) to deliver a workshop, "Emerging Technology Research Implementation in the United States and China," on January 8 during the 2023 TRB Annual Meeting.
