Welcome to the Australian Junior Chess Championships, the premier chess tournament for our Australian juniors. In 2025, this event will be held in Perth, organised by the Chess Association of Western Australia (CAWA). We are excited to hold this event and look forward to welcoming all our top players from around the country into our beautiful state. 

Notes:

1. A player’s age is deemed to be their age at the end of the year 2024;
   Please note that the term ‘under’ means a child must be less than that age to qualify entry for an age category, e.g. a child who is born in 2016, and will therefore be 8 years old at the end of 2024, must enter a U10 or higher category; a child who is born in 2017, and will therefore be 7 years old at the end of 2024, would qualify for the U8 category.

2. Early Bird prices are available until November 30, 2024; Standard prices are available until December 30, 2024.

3. A player can play in an older age group if they wish.

Eligibility rules for the Australian Championships are governed by the ACF by-law #3, available here. All competitors must be under 18 years of age at the end of the year 2024.

4. Entries for the following divisions will close at 5:00pm on Friday 10th January, AWST:

• Under 18/16/14/12 Open

• Under 18/16/14/12/10/8 Girls

Entries for the following divisions will close at 8:00pm on Saturday 18th January, AWST:

• Under 10/8 Open
