Aisle Privacy Policy

Aisle is built private by design. This page explains exactly what data the app collects, where it is stored, who can see it, and what your rights are.
SUMMARY IN ONE PARAGRAPH
Aisle stores all of your grocery prices, items, stores, receipts, and photos directly on your iPhone or iPad. None of this data is ever uploaded to our servers, because we do not have any servers that hold your personal data. We do not require an account. We do not collect analytics. We do not use third-party trackers. We do not sell your data, because we never have it.
WHAT AISLE STORES ON YOUR DEVICE
The following information is saved locally on your device only, inside the app's private container managed by Apple Core Data:
Grocery items you have logged, including name, category, brand, unit, and notes.
Stores you have added, including name, address, category, currency, and favorite flag.
Price entries that link an item to a store on a specific date, including price, unit price, quantity, and whether it was on sale.
Receipts you have scanned, including the photo, OCR text, and totals.
Shopping baskets you have built for store comparison.
Optional first name you enter for the home screen greeting.
App preferences such as theme, default currency, notification toggles, tooltip seen state, streak count, and unlocked milestones.
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it as CSV or JSON and share it yourself.
WHAT AISLE DOES NOT COLLECT
No account, no email, no password, no phone number.
No location data.
No contacts, calendar, or photo library beyond what you select to scan as a receipt.
No advertising identifier.
No analytics, telemetry, or crash reports collected by us.
No third-party SDKs that track you.
PERMISSIONS AISLE MAY REQUEST
Camera. Used only to scan grocery receipts. Photos are processed on-device by Apple Vision OCR. You can revoke this permission at any time in Settings.
Photo Library. Used only if you choose to import an existing receipt photo. Aisle reads only the image you pick. You can revoke this at any time in Settings.
Notifications. Used only if you opt in to Buy-Now alerts or weekly digest reminders. You can disable these at any time in Settings or the Aisle Reminders screen.
CLAUDE AI FEATURES (OPTIONAL)
If you turn on Claude AI in Aisle Settings and use a feature such as Re-parse Receipt, Fake Sale Analysis, Weekly Summary, Item Substitution, or Ask Aisle, the relevant context for that single request is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to produce a response. The context typically includes only the item names, prices, dates, and store names involved in that specific feature. It never includes your name, email, location, device identifier, or any data unrelated to the request. Anthropic processes the request to generate a response and does not use it for model training. You can turn off all AI features in Settings at any time, and Aisle continues to work fully without them.
IN-APP PURCHASES AND APPLE
Aisle uses Apple's StoreKit 2 for subscriptions and one-time purchases. Apple handles all payment processing. Aisle receives only the transaction status (active or not) so the app knows whether to unlock Pro features. Apple's privacy policy applies to that transaction. Aisle never sees your payment information.
FAMILY SHARING
Aisle supports Apple Family Sharing for the Pro subscription. Each family member uses the app on their own device with their own local data. Your grocery data is never shared with other family members.
CHILDREN
Aisle is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will help you remove the local data.
YOUR RIGHTS
Because all of your data is stored on your device, you control it completely:
Access. Open the app to view all your data. Use Settings, Export and Backup, Export CSV or Export JSON to take it with you.
Delete. Settings, Data, Erase all data permanently deletes all stores, items, prices, receipts, baskets, and engagement state from your device. This cannot be undone.
Withdraw consent for AI. Settings, AI, Enable Claude AI toggle off.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If we materially change how Aisle handles data, this page will be updated and the in-app About page will reference the change. The last updated date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
