Through COM 263 and FIS 337, I have developed a deeper understanding of how global systems, culturual identities, and structures of power shape human experience.
In FIS 337, I examined the impacts of the FIFA World Cus being a major cross-national development initiative. This course analyzed how globalization, migration, sustainability and human dignity intersect with large global scale events.
In COM 263, I explored intercultural communication theories, including intersectionality, liminality, avowed versus ascribed identity and more.
Through these courses, I learnt that technology as well as global development are never neutral but are very influenced by culturual, social and political frameworks. Multicultural competency for me explores how in design of systems, you must preserve dignity and agency.
