Initially operating small aircraft like the Douglas DC-3, the airline’s fleet was designed to meet Greenland’s unique needs, with its challenging Arctic conditions and vast, remote terrain. Over the years, Air Greenland upgraded its fleet with more modern aircraft, including the Dash 8-200, which is well-suited for domestic flights, and the Airbus A330-800neo for international routes, offering greater comfort and efficiency for long-distance travel.
In addition to fixed-wing aircraft, Air Greenland also operates a fleet of helicopters, which are crucial for access to Greenland’s most isolated communities. The helicopters play a vital role in transporting goods, passengers, and conducting search-and-rescue missions. They are also indispensable for servicing offshore oil rigs, ensuring the safety and mobility of workers in the region’s harsh environment.
