This is a variation of a Corsi-Rosenthal box.
It's similar to a HEPA filter, as it uses MERV 13 electrostatic filters which are effective to trap virus particles. Once the room's volume of air has passed thru it 7 times, it is extremely unlikely that there would be enough pathogens to cause an infection

I built upon the work of https://twitter.com/robwiss and https://twitter.com/CRBoxKits
Fans are NZXT AER P - RF-AP140-FP - 140mm - PWM Static Pressure Fans - at the time of purchase they were $7 on sale. (note - important that fans are static pressure, and not plain airflow)
They were just connected with zip ties.
Filters are Nordic Pure 16x25x2 MERV 13 - note these were too short, I should have gone with a 20x30 size. The 3M Filtrete in 20x30x1 would have been a better choice.
Power is supplied by a 12V 2A power adaptor
Distributed to fans via a 4 Pin PWM Fan Hub Splitter Power Supply Cable 1 to 5 Way - cut cable to attach 2 power leads to adaptor
Just cardboard and duct tape to put it together. The box on the side holds the wallwart for transport. There's a carry strap attached.
Fans are unprotected. Might be worthwhile adding a mesh gutter guard over them,
