Over the past decade, ASR has participated in several NASA programs aimed at undergraduate college students. These programs actively assist in the research and development of existing technology as well as provide a conversation between NASA and the scientists of tomorrow. Below are the two main projects we have been involved with since the club's conception.
The club debuted with their participation in NASA's Reduced-Gravity program. This program encouraged students to fly their projects on a modified Boeing 727 nicknamed the "vomit comet" for its oscillatory flight pattern. Their first project with this program conducted experiments on a regulated zero-gravity flame. Later on, the team designed and flew their octocopter intended to aid aboard the International Space Station.
Since 2015, the club has been involved in NASA's Micro-g NExT program at Johnson Space Center's Neutral Buoyancy Lab. This program is aimed at developing tools for astronauts to use during spacewalk missions for experimentation and maintenance. To see each of our projects, please view the links below:
