I work independently and with colleagues and students to examine technological contexts that impact U.S. youth, co-authoring numerous papers with computer scientists on social media algorithms and default settings.

In 2019, I organized and hosted a campus-wide faculty forum to discuss classroom cell phone use findings from our Students' Social Technology Usage (SSTU) study. I have been awarded grants to coordinate and lead interdisciplinary campus learning communities that brought faculty from across five colleges together with librarians for year-long collaborative study of topics related to youth and culture.
