Hai everyone! Welcome to the podcast where we explore the latest trends and innovations in healthcare. I am Anu Johnson and today, we're diving into the world of artificial intelligence and its profound impact on the medical field.
In this era of technology, many experts are envisioning a future where sectors like transportation, agriculture, healthcare ,education, business etc which save time, money, and lives, providing individuals with a more personalized experience with the evolution of artificial intelligence. However, the AI sector also will face several challenges including protecting personal information and privacy, addressing ethical issues such as algorithmic bias and transparency, and managing the socioeconomic effects of employment displacement due to automation .
AI has significantly improved healthcare research by enabling more individualized therapies and precise diagnoses. The healthcare applications range from early detection of abnormalities like any symptoms that may be missed by professionals to predicting results based on data analysis. AI can transform healthcare, even in the face of complex illness mechanisms and symptoms. AI is also being used for drug discovery, predicting patient outcomes, and even robotic surgeries. AI can be used to prevent and detect fraudulent activity in healthcare insurance claims, reducing financial losses for healthcare companies and consumers. Several significant security and privacy risks must be considered despite its benefits. The requirement for strong data privacy and security procedures to safeguard patient information is one issue. Concerns have also been raised regarding how, if not used carefully, AI could make already-existing healthcare disparities worse. Healthcare workers also require continual education and training in order to use AI tools efficiently. AI may automate tasks previously done by humans, potentially leading to job losses in the healthcare industry.
In the documentary film "Coded Bias," many statements raise the critical issue in the use of artificial intelligence and algorithms: the lack of transparency and accountability. This issue is explored, hence showing how AI systems can harm individuals without their knowledge or ability to appeal decisions. There are many facts which focusses on the power and peril of artificial intelligence from variety of articles of many scientific as well as medical experts. It discusses how AI has the potential to make impact on clinical practice by providing more individualized and effective care to patients worldwide. It also raises ethical concerns about the use of AI in healthcare, particularly regarding the lack of universal guidelines.
There are many ways in which we could be more aware of the issues related to artificial intelligence in health care field. Many videos or podcasts provide the discussion of the issue as a higly debatable topic - including its benefits and dangers to the future-oriented society. The TEDxQUT by Navin Toosi Saidi explores new ways of using AI to improve healthcare delivery and its harmful threats. The famous personality Demis Hassabis, the CEO and co-founder of DeepMind, who is an influencer in the field of AI and made the early detection possible in acute kidney injuries through the creation of an app.
AI has the power to completely transform healthcare by increasing the precision of diagnoses, allowing for more personalised treatment regimens, and expediting administrative procedures. To fully utilise AI in healthcare, however, issues like workforce consequences, prejudice, and data privacy must be resolved. Artificial intelligence has the potential to significantly improve patient outcomes and global healthcare systems when properly considered and applied.
