Bob is the supreme ruler of the Dreamlands. When he's not torturing hapless dreamers who have trespassed into his realm (The Heavenly Journey of Brother Lucas), he likes to offer the Silver Key to unsuspecting humans. The Key is the manifestation of his power as a bridge between worlds and can send whoever uses it to a place where all their greater wishes have come true... or into the cold and hungry tentacled embrace of the ancient beings who inhabit the space between worlds.

Bob exists outside the bonds of space and time, and can communicate with people through their dreams. He did this to H P Lovecraft before he ended up in a box, and more recently to the US President in Geek Addiction. His plans are simple - to unleash the tentacled spawn of Yuggoth on our world as soon as the planetary alignment is right. Bob's gift is Chaos.

It was revealed in Mummy Issues that he was the one responsible for Lovecraft's present condition and also the reason why he was being kept at the Order's secret headquarters - they knew Bob wouldn't resist gloating when he was ready to set his nefarious plan is motion. In Geek Addiction he tried to throw the world into chaos by taking down all social media, but was thwarted by the Silicon Valley Cultists. He turned up again in Penny and the Silver Key #1 to offer Penny the Key.

INSPIRATION

Bob was obviously inspired by the work of H P Lovecraft, namely Nyarlathotep's portrayal in the eponymous short story and in The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath. In fact, his name is supposed to be Nyarlathotep - 'Bob' is just the closest imperfect human vocal cords can come to reproducing its alien sound.
