Dr. Ocumpaugh is the Associate Director of the Penn Center for Learning Analytics at the University of Pennsylvania and the co-editor of Computer Based Learning in Context. . Before working with Paquette, Baker and colleagues to invent the methodology for Data Driven Classroom Interviews (DDCI), she was one of the co-creators of the Baker Rodrigo Ocumpaugh Monitoring Protocol (BROMP) for studying student engagement. In addition to her university teaching experience, she has extensive experience running field-training in observation methods and has already trained several interviewers in the DDCI methodology.

Dr. Paquette is an Associate Professor in the department of Curriculum & Instruction at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Paquette co-developed the QRF technology and the DDCI methodology with Ocumpaugh, Baker and colleagues. His research focuses on the development and application of computational methods to study log trace data produced by students’ interactions with digital learning environments. He has prior experience with organizing workshops at international research conferences (Learning Analytics and Knowledge, and The International Educational Data Mining Conference).

Dr. Barany is a Post Doc at the Penn Center for Learning Analytics with substantial experience researching digital learning environments, including conducting DDCIs. She brings a substantial amount of teaching and leadership experience to this project, as well as research experience in coding and analyzing DDCI transcripts.

Dr. Baker is a Professor in the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania and director of the Penn Center for Learning Analytics and an associate editor at the Journal of Educational Data Mining and at Computer Based Learning in Context. Baker helped to co-develop the QRF technology and associated DDCI methodology and has extensive experience in both education research and field training methods, as well as a long history of organizing research meetings and events.
