Since April of 2022, I have been working at the city of Burbank's busiest parks and recreation facility, Verdugo Aquatic Center. I handle tense situations with patrons, check in hundred of patrons per shift, and work to ensure strict safety and cleanliness standards. I have been recognized for my communication skills by city leadership due to my exemplary communication skills and ability to deescalate situations and provide exceptional customer service.
I love working for the city and learning how municipal government works. The best part of my job is getting to know our frequent swimmers and being part of their lives.
During my high school years, I racked up almost 100 hours of volunteering. More than half of those hours were in service to American Youth Soccer Organization. I went through more than eight hours of specialized training and learned how to work with adults and children alike to create a safe, enjoyable environment for game play. I refereed countless games in my hometown league and in tournaments and learned how to settle disputes and maintain the well-being of the players.
Other volunteer experiences included helping teachers in our local elementary schools and at our school. My responsibilities varied and included staffing or acting as master of ceremonies for special events, prepping the stadium for graduation ceremonies, helping teachers move classrooms and rearranging furniture, prepping for the school year, and grading student work.
